"The ACT Plus Writing or the SAT (Critical Reading, Math and Writing) is required. Official scores from all test dates must be sent to Stanford directly from the ACT or the College Board (the reporting agency for the SAT) or both if the applicant has taken the ACT and the SAT. Score reports must arrive by the appropriate application deadline."

This is what I found on the Stanford website. I took the ACT once and decided I would stick to the SAT. I took the SAT three times. I did really horribly badly on the SAT. Is it okay if I do not report the ACT score? Will colleges know my ACT score anyway? If I didn't report the ACT score, would it be lying to the college?

What you found on the Stanford website explicitly says that you must send all scores from both tests (read what you quoted above. Right below the section quoted it continues on their website to say: Applicants must self-report and submit all SAT scores and all ACT scores. Applicants may not use the College Board’s Score Choice feature or “hide” any scores with either testing agency.

This is pretty straight forward, so yes you must report your ACT scores and all SATs!

@cba So if I took the ACT on a whim, I MUST submit the score!!! Even if I do not wish to report the ACT scores? I’m definitely submitting the SAT score, but I thought I wasn’t required to submit the ACT if I submitted the SAT scores…

It’s kind of confusing because I thought they meant “scores with EITHER testing agency.” So isn’t it the same as “whichever test you have chosen to go with, you need to submit all the scores you have received on the test.” For example, you took the SAT three times and wish to report the SAT scores, you should report scores of all the three test dates. No? :(

@gatsbyisgreat. @cba is correct. Stanford requires all ACT and SAT scores to be submitted. Yes, it is sometimes embarrassing for many students to submit “all” scores…but, you have to understand…they will give you the benefit of doubt by using your top scores. I have seen kids with fairly low scores on one type of test but high scores on another type of test get in…

@gravitas2 yeah, I’ll submit all the SAT scores (three times taken), but it’s kind of weird that they require the ACT score as well just because I took it… :\ Well… I guess I have to go with it. Thank you! :)
