Have you heard of any transfer cases?

I want to transfer to NYU after my 2nd semester but idk anything about transferring to NYU. does anyone know someones stats or if u've done it, what were urs when u transferred?

this fall to stern. doable but again its a crapshoot.

i told you in that other thread you posted last week or something. i transferred after three semesters, not two.

transfer from CUNY
3.45 overall GPA
varsity tennis player
student music teacher through CUNY
primary research intern for a non-profit organization
sales associate at a retail store
recommendations from former NYU professor and internship coordinator

i don’t remember my final HS stats from 2006 very well, something like. . .

92 GPA
670 verbal 570 math
660 Lit SAT II, 570 US History SAT II
first chair trumpet in symphonic orchestra
marching band/symphonic band
mock trial/model UN
most rigorous courseload possible
AP Bio/Lit/US History
library page
english department tutor/monitor
rejected ED to CAS

i transferred to Steinhardt. each school as different transfer rates. you MUST declare a major to transfer. it’s a crapshoot and i barely squeaked in with a 3.45, because most transfer students have HIGHER GPAs than that. my internship coordinator let me read the letter after i got in to NYU and she basically praised me in any way possible.

you can go to another school for however long you want. if you transfer as a junior, your high school stats won’t matter much. take classes that will transfer, basic classes, liberal arts requirements. you work hard, intern, do research, get a job and maintain something above a 3.5. after that, apply to NYU, send them your high school stuff and college stuff and start hoping.

1 in 5 students transfer to NYU. good luck.

woah i didnt know ur stats before. now i have somewhat of an idea of what some stats looks like. i might transfer from pepperdine if i get in. my college gpa is about the same as urs right now but ive been taking classes in community while in high school so i havent done as well as i maybe could’ve. ill raise it tho. what made u switch to stern? im going for cas (for now) but im havin doubts now…ill just stick with science for my other apps too tho

i transferred from being a Political Science major in CUNY (taking 300 level politics classes) to being a media major because i didn’t like NYU Politics program as much as i thought i would. plus, media is pretty flexible in terms of what you can study. Steinhardt is a perfect fit for me.

just having the straight GPA isn’t enough. you also need fantastic essays and compelling reasons why NYU should want you.

if u dont mind me asking, what was the main reason that u told them that theyd want u? that probly doesnt make sense…but if u dont get it, ill try to rephrase it lol

yeah they look at 11, 12, and whatever u do in college right? i wrote my $1000 grant for my community service program this year, so that’d help if i can put 12th grade on there.

hey missamericanpie, I wanted to know if you had any C’s on your transript.

I have one  but no more than one!

i had one, but it was in a one credit Chemistry lab course.

NYU still looks at your high school record in it’s entirety, as well as whatever college work you do you.

my essays were about how i would best utilize the media department, what classes i would take there, and what perspective i would bring to the department. i made it seem as if i was a perfect fit for Steinhardt. i ALSO wrote about how awesome NYU’s media department is. i had three separate people edit my essay.

Thanks! My C was in the same course.

Also, I am a sophomore in high school and I took the college class in order to take the AP chem class this upcomming junior year of high school. That said, is my chemistry class going to be permanently on my college transcripts? Even if I go to a four year university and not submit that local college transcript?

PS, would it even benefit me if i DID send in that transcript?
The only reason I took the class was because I thought it would look great since I had college experience it high school, but I didnt know that I would do so bad! this year has been super busy with high school itself!

Please let me know what you think!

i honestly have no idea.

lol thats a good ?. i got a C in psychology too! except i took like 13 other classes. i hope it wont matter, but so far my college gpa kinda sux…i guess the college classes didnt make my transcript look n e better lol oh well…if i transfer, it might seem like i had done a lot as a freshman transfer.

it won’t seem like you did a lot, because they’ll really only consider your primary college transcript and your HS transcript, unless you got credit in your HS for the college classes.

well it’d be on the same transcript. it would just have earlier dates (for my college classes)
