Haverford Class Of 2009

<p>Hey Guys,
So i know there are a couple of threads out there for the class of 2009 at Haverford but i wanted to start a new one that lacks any negative posts.
I'm Chloe..accepted early and i'm ridiculously excited about haverford. I love it so much there, it was the only school i applied to and i'm so happy about my descion. If you're going to haverford or thinking about it post here!!!
Talk to you soon,
Chloe:)</p>

<p>I wanna be in 09' too but don't think I will get in.</p>

<p>Chloe, thank you so much for starting this post again!! I was disappointed to see a board of excited accepted ED students go idle. Anyways, I'm an ED admit as well and am thrilled to be a 'Ford!!!! Does anyone know when they invite prospective admitted students and ED admits up to Haverford to check out the school?</p>

<p>Hey, I'm also an ED admit, and I've very sick of the other negative board (thanks for starting a new one Chloe). My mom called about when the accepted students weekend would be held and the person she talked with said that there is a weekend in April, but ED admits don't get to spend the night because of the small campus, but they can come for the activities during the day. I was really bummed about this, and I hope it's not true. I might go anyway because I don't think I can wait until August.
I don't know any of your stats vampire, but I wouldn't give up. I didn't think I had much of a chance given how competative admissions have gotten, but I think that they really try hard to pick a class who really wants to be at Haverford, not necessarily the one with the best stats.</p>

<p>Hey Guys!
So glad you posted!!
Vampire I think you definetely should just hope for the best and not get set in either direction. Yea its competitive but things tend to work out.
So about the new students thingy...a part of me really wants to go and a part of me doesnt just cause i want to go up in August with a fresh beginning. But i dont think i can resist.
I have a friend there so I may stay the night...Perhaps yall could stay in Philly or we could figure out some way to stay up there. Maybe if you've spent the night before you could contact your host.
I think either way it will work out. OR we'll stay there really late and spend the night in the city! No matter what it will be fun.
Talk to yall soon!
Chloe:)</p>

<p>Hey everyone!
Chloe, thanks very much for starting a new thread...some of the others were getting really negative and i guess even annoying to a certain degree. I am also an ED admit and am very excited about joining you guys in the fall. but I must say I am kinda nervous about it- all new and different. but i am sure i will be able to take classes i enjoy (unlike AP Physics this year!) and meet some amazing people :)
Vampire- keep your hopes up..fingers are crossed for you!
gtg now watch the Oscars,
bye, Numa</p>

<p>Hi! I was accepted ED too. I will definitely be going to the accepted students weekend. Campus is only a 20-minute drive from my house, but I am sad that I will have to miss all of the fun that night.</p>

<p>I completely understand being a little nervous. Makes so much sense. But I also can't stop thinking about how excited i am! I'm going to the only school i wanted to go to....And about new students weekend...we'll figure something out to make it the best for us as possible...shhh we'll keep it on the down low.
So wheres everyone from?
ciao for now
P.S I could not stand those other threads...i'm doin my best for forget they exist...cause they shouldnt</p>

<p>hey guys,
well, i'm Ben from South Louisiana..and i got in ED...im looking forward to haverford in the fall...dont know if i can go to the April weekend.....kinda expensive for the flight and all...only downer is that Haverford has no Men's rugby club...otherwise...looks awesome...
Look to see you all in the fall though
see y'all later
Ben</p>

<p>hi guys!
i was just wondering if anyone knows how many ED admits there were (and which countries are represented) this year 'cos some of the other LACs on this site have articles about ED admission from their respective schools, and now i kinda wanna know about these stats for haverford...i know it's random, but i am curious :)
talk to you all later,
Numa</p>

<p>Well...although i say i am Cajun and from South Louisiana....i grew up for some of my life in Montreal, Quebec, Canada....around here i'm pretty well known among my friends and others as the Canadian....so yea i'm an international representative i guess of Canada.....i am a dual-citizen however.....yeah....its a long story.....
see all of you in the fall...
Ben</p>

<p>thats an interesting background...hows it livin in Louisiana? are you looking foward to philly?</p>

<p>yeah, that's really cool. I myself am a citizen of Bangladesh and I moved to the US in 9th grade. i don't have dual citizenship though, i am just a permanent resident of the US now. btw, ben, maybe you could try out cricket because there's no rugby...i grew up watching cricket (although i was never good at actually taking part in it..hehe) and it's really fun :)
bye, Numa</p>

<p>Wheres everyone else from? And ya know about you could start a Rugby club...or one of the other colleges might have a rugby club...you should check that out...i'm a kickboxer so i'm probably gonna start a kickboxing something or other...</p>

<p>Alright, so I'm an ED admit as I mentioned before and I wanted to get a clear answer about the admitted students' weekend so I emailed the Haverford admissions office. Here's the email I got back:</p>

<p>"We do have a weekend in the spring for admitted students, but the priority
does go to regular decision applicants who are trying to learn more about
Haverford in order to decide where to enroll. We would love you to join us
for our admitted students program on Sunday, April 17th, but unfortunately,
we won't be able to house you the prior evening." </p>

<p>Hope this helps.</p>

<p>Just can’t wait</p>

<p>Hey Everyone,</p>

<p>I am Munik from Nepal…ED Class of 2009…I am attending a school at Illinois, and I can’t wait moving to Haverford…just too excited. I am also recruited in a cricket team, and am really looking forward into this...Sad to hear that we won’t be able to stay overnight during the admitted student program.<br>
Thanks jrose for your information. Nraham, are u recruited in a cricket team???</p>

<p>Thanks jrose for the info. Munik: no, i am not recruited for cricket. i am female and the cricket team is all male...haha. but i am a big cricket fan and used to watch it a lot before i moved to the US...</p>

<p>Some students tried to start a boxing club this year but got absolutely ZERO funding from Students' Council. Most clubs get at least something during the budgeting...but this one didn't pass. I don't know what that means, but I'm assuming that the same would happen for kickboxing. </p>

<p>Yeah, it's a liberal school...but I've found that behind everything there are conservative puppeteers running the show. </p>

<p>I'm not trying to be 'negative'; I'm merely stating what I've seen first hand. It's important to understand that there will be things that you don't like about Haverford. So please, don't go on a diatribe because of what I said...Just be aware of both sides of the spectrum.</p>

<p>Hey, I'd like to comment on that boxing club issue. I'm one of six members of Student Council's Budgeting Committee and possibly a candidate for next year's SC treasurer (e.i. I could be the person you'd be going to for money next year). In the initial round of budgeting, Boxing Club was given a tentative funding of zero in order to wait for liability approval from the activities director. We've funded a punching bag for The Martial Arts Club that will be shared with Boxing Club in DC basement. SC has limited funds- you'd be suprised as to how many of the activities on campus are payed for on SC's tab. New clubs aren't always given priority on budgeting, but budgeting committee certainly strives to allocate as much funding as is available to Haverford organizations.</p>

<p>BTW, hope you all have fun at spec weekend in April. I'll be a host that night.</p>

<p>Yikes, I stand corrected. I thought it was entirely due to liability. Sorry about that! I don't want to give SC a bad name...definitely a great service.</p>
