Help! International Affairs Information Anyone?

Hi, I am a Junior in High School and I know for sure that I want a career in International Affairs; problem is, I’m not sure on what I want my degree focus to be. I have done some research, and what I’m gathering so far is that a degree in International Affairs has general classes that need to be taken, and then you have to choose exactly which area you want to specialize in? I’m not sure what area or branch I would want to go into, I just know I want to be involved in what is happening overseas. I want to make a difference in the places of the world that have things going on that we Americans could never dream of enduring. I just need any help I can get; I will be the first person in my whole family to go to college. I am fired up and ready to try to get this ball rolling, I’m just not sure how to! Please, any information any of you have and could pass onto me would be extremely helpful! Thank you!

@Time2GetSerious I just sent you a PM.

If you are a junior in high school…don’t worry about specializing now. You probably won’t even begin to specialize until your junior of senior year in high school; where you can really make the specialization happen is in graduate school, but most people who get MIA and related IA grad degrees have a couple of years of work experience - so that’s pretty far down the line.

The way you do this is take some classes in undergrad and figure out what you like. The more you like something, the more classes you take in it, and before you know it you have a specialty area.

Ok great! Thank you so much for the info!
