Hey guys, I just wanted to get your opinion on my situation with my AP English class right now.

Our school gives 4 term grades every year. Term grades are the average of two four week grades. I was recently in APUSH, but decided that the class wasn't for me, I was doing pretty average (C+, had a killer teacher) because I didn't have an interest in the subject, so I dropped out after the 1st four weeks and switched into AP English. I currently have an A+ for Ap English.

However, I just found out that the administration is going to average my APUSH grade with my AP English grade for my final term grade. That gives me around a B, but this grade doesn't reflect how I am doing in AP English and the transcript is just going to show a B for AP English.

I really don't think this is fair as averaging two different classes' grades together makes no sense, right? What do you guys think about this situation, should I talk to my counselor? please heeeelp, I need advice. Thanks!

I agree that it does not make sense to average grades from different classes, especially since they are completely different subjects. Also, since they let you switch classes, this doesn't make any sense to me. If they are going to use your grade from APUSH, then you should also be getting some APUSH credit (which I assume you are NOT). Did you have to make up work you missed in AP English due to starting late? If so, that is all the work that should count. If not, they should still not count your APUSH work, since you had to work harder in your new class to get up to speed anyway.

I am not getting any APUSH credit and I did have to catch up on missed work in AP English, althought not all of it.
Thanks so much for your reply, I will talk to admin tomorrow
anyone else have thoughts on this?

you have good argument. The only thing you can do is go to your administration... don't whine, but articulate your reasoning well. Maybe write a letter and bring it with you. This is the time where it pays off to have a good relationship with your counselor/principal. Have other people been in similar situations at your school?

That is ridiculous. I don't normally encourage complaining to the administration about grades, but...it doesn't sound like it's about the B to you, which is good. It sounds like it's about the fact that it's going to reflect a grade in a class which you didn't actually get. Present that argument to them and it would be absolutely unreasonable for the administration to not listen to you. Best of luck.
