help!! It is now a week from the new semester! financial aids!!

I just got accepted by this college that I applied for transferring two months a ago!
Im so damn awkward because I seems have limit time to go through many process!
Like the financial aid, how do I transfer the FAFSA and TAP(Im from NY) to the new college?
I did some research, but I am not sure if I only need to go on the website and make change online then it is done? Or I need to do something else? Im so worrying about what if the new college haven't received it on time, then I need to pay it myself? How long will the financial aid transferring process usually take?

Also, I heard people said transferring to another school will reduce my financial aid? Is that true?

I'm so frustrated! Can anyone helps?

If your aid is Pell, TAP, and student loans, then you probably will still get that at your new NY school.

However, if you have other aid…such as school grants, work-study, etc, that aid may not happen at your new school.

Did you list this school on your FAFSA? If not, do so. And contact your new school tomorrow to find out what you have to do.

yes, my aid is pell and tap! Is that as long as I add the school, both colleges can access my financial information? Do I need to delete the other college name?

You do not need to delete the other college name … just add the new school. You should contact them about a week after you add their name. Mid-year transfer aid sometimes gets messed up, as computers like to package your aid for the full year when your FAFSA is received! There is likely some hand-packaging that will need to be done for you.

To minimize hassles, inform your old school in writing that you would like your financial aid canceled for the spring term. That way, the second half of your loan will be canceled in the government system, which makes things smoother.

I don’t know anything about TAP, but the new school can help you with that.

For your TAP, suggest you call HESC (888-NYS-HESC), have your account info handy, and have them change the school code. They’re very good with phone requests!
