Help me, a student transfer from a community college

I am planning to transfer to Amherst College and Stanford (dream schools) and some safety schools. I don't know much about the liberal arts courses. Anyone can help me? I don't want to waste my time and money for talking courses that are not counted toward to Amherst. I will definitely do some activities this year (any suggestions ?) I got my GPA 3.9 so far, and I think I will put all of my effort on the essay. Is it high possibility for me to be admitted ? ( Amherst and Stanford)
Thanks.

Stanford and Amherst are among the most competitive schools. If you are a sophomore transfer, your high school GPA is extremely important, even more so than your college GPA. The importance of your college GPA pales in comparison to the importance of your high school GPA. ACT/SAT scores are very important as well. Extracurricular activities and essays matter only when you pass the GPA threshold. What were your ACT/SAT scores? And what is your high school GPA?

Hi Rain 202
Probably my high school GPA is 3.8, I think. I will take SAT this summer, and I aim for 1500 (CR+M). Is it possible to get in those schools.

It is possible, of course. The likelihood for any applicant is very low.
Your high school GPA works in your favor.

Have you taken the SAT test ?

Yes, as a matter of fact I have. I also took the ACT’s. You don’t want ACT/SAT advice from me, I did horribly. I got a 29 on the ACT’s which is about 1980 on the SAT’s.

it’s not horrible. I only need over 2000.
