Help me find UC safeties...!

HAHAHAHAHAHAH, to UCLAri's comment.

Go Bears (if I can get in)!!!

Otherwise, Go whatever UCR's mascot is!!!

...

You're kidding, right? You'd choose UCR over UCLA? You'd choose the INLAND SUCKPIRE over Westwood? You'd choose a lame dude in a kilt over a powerful beast?

I'm going to be in LA from the 24th to 4th of April. You better hope I don't find you, 'cause I'd smack some sense into you...HARD.

English is in the humanities division; you have a very good chance, perhaps a match.

Cardinal, did you catch the last basketball between UCLA/Cal? Better luck next year! I keed, I keed. But no really. 40+ years since their last Pac-10 basketball championship? That must sting.

UCLAri,

UCLA = only a creative writing concentration
UCR = a full fledged creative writing major (basically, more of what I want to do)

Kudos my hero,

I'm not really that big on sports.

Cardinal,

Trust me when I say that in the long run, majors don't really count much.

Why do you say that UCLAri?

Because the difference between a concentration and a major is very minor.

I majored in poli sci, but concentrated in comparative politics. My MA, on the other hand, will be in IR.

Majors can count if you meet great peers and learn from professors who lead you into amaaazing areas.

I can see someone choosing Riverside over UCLA; that isn't that crazy.

But for the most part, majors aren't really that important. Obviously, very few English majors are going to go for PhDs in physics, but I wouldn't let a tiny difference in major naming deter me from choosing a school.

UCLA > UCR 100 - 0

yeah dude, unless you get an amazing scholarship don't go to riverhell.

hahaha, I actually have not even been accepted to what's supposedly my super backup (UCR) so who knows where I'll end up =</p>

yeah, like UCR will reject you hAHAHHA...

UCR seems like the redheaded step-child of UC's. Is it really as bad as people make it out to be?

god, even though berkeley is tough to get into, i wish people would be more realistic when it comes to haas. nobody knows ANYTHING about them. it makes me want to cry.

yes and yes.

think of choosing colleges like you would choose a girlfriend. UCLA and Cal are like the hot girls that you would give your left nut for. UCR is like that desperate ugly girl that goes after you. Sure, she may shower you with presents but in the end you will reject her.

So you're saying I should have like 5 more beers then apply to UCR?... You raise a valid point Hobo. Hopefully, I'll be taking the pretty girl to prom come April/May. Although, from what I've seen of Berkeley's females, maybe that's not the best analogy.

hahaha, to kudosmyhero above comment...

I pray Berkeley accepts me...If not, I think I should have solid information to help me rock the appeal.

how much will missing major pre-reqs affect my decision at Cal? I think I have like one or two missing and my major is impacted (English)...given all my other stats? Anyone?

Cardinal,
It wont affect your application much at all, because once you arrive here, you will have to formally declare your major through what ever department you are applying to. They give you until the start of your second semester here to declare your major, and even that is quite flexible. If you get in, you can always finish your pre-reqs during your first semester at Cal.
