Hello. I am a bit of a strange case, because throughout high school I haven't had the most motivation, and as a result, hold a 3.015 GPA. I had an act score of 28 from the first time I took it in june (english-28 math-31 reading-28 science-23), and have been primarily considering Michigan State, Michigan Tech, and Loyola in Chicago. I wasn't sure I'd be accepted into any of them with my low GPA. However, I've just received my october ACT scores, my second and final time, and scored 34 in english, 31 in math, 32 in reading, and 25 in science, for a composite of 31. 31, not too awful. Yeah, so basically, I'm wondering how likely it is I'll be admitted into one of those schools. I plan to finish the apps this week. Also, I'm curious as to whether or not it would be worth it to attempt Kalamazoo College, or University of Michigan. I'm just completely unsure of how GPA's balance with ACT's. By the way, I've generally taken most of the hardest classes our school has aside from the newspaper and jazz band I'm taking, and I hold a job washing dishes at a local restaurant, if that matters. I'm pretty sure I could churn out some pretty decent essays too.

Also, if anyone has in recommendations of where to apply.. it would be appreciated.

sorry to bump this.. but I'm really curious. if anyone can help me out with these schools, or just educate me on the relationship between act scores and gpas in larger schools (I know the smaller ones generally don't have standards set-in-stone), I would be very appreciative. And I will give you a Gmail account. maybe that will get a comment. Gmail invites for whichever two of you help me the most. aye. thxbye

University of Michigan - reach

Thanks very much. I was hoping that the princeton review site was accurate... it said that with a 3.0 GPA, 31 act and michigan residency State, Tech, and Loyola are safeties. Had K-zoo as a match and U-of-M a reach, of course. I've been reluctant to give much credit to it, seeing as how it's automatic and all.. and from what you said I was right to have such a concern. I'm curious why state is a possible match and tech is a reach, seeing as how they seem to have very similar standards and averages. Does tech simply place more value on standardized test scores? Thanks for the input. Want a gmail account? Any more comments and perspectives from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
