Help me!

Hello College Confidential!

Since I was very young I have aspired to get into the University of Georgia and study Japanese and broadcasting. As of late, I have been given a life time offer to stay with a family in Japan for a year! Of course, I still have to continue my freshman year of core education online.

I have been deferred by UGA and am applying for regular decision right now. If I do not get into UGA, I don't want to spend a year at home going to a community college (which doesn't hurt my pride) and not study Japanese when I could be in Japan and be forced to learn the language and do the job that I love. I wish to go to Japan and take online core courses so that I can transfer to UGA the following year.

I've found the UGA database in which you can see if your credits are transferable but i don;t even know where to start! What online programs could I take internationally that are still creditable to UGA? and if I was to come from Japan to Georgia would I be a transfer or international student?

If you are an american citizen now you will still be one in a year. You would be a transfer. As far as class credits, you should probably ask UGA what online schools they accept in lieu of their own courses. At the least they might be able to provide a list of those schools you should not use.

Erin’s dad is generous with advice. In the future, please don’t title your posts with the generic “help me”.

By SAYING something relevant such as “Studying in Japan” or “UGA deferree” you might actually get more people knowledgeable about your situation. savvy?
