Currently, I am a freshman at UNCW. I am beyond miserable there. I want to transfer to WVU next year, but I don't want to go back toUNCW for my second semester. If I leave UNCW for the second semester to take online classes and/or go to a community college for the spring semester, will that jeopradize my chance of admission?

I know on the website it says if you have fewer than a certain number of credit hours, they look at your high school records. I had a 3.4 GPA and a lot of extra curriculars, as well as a 27 on my ACT. I got a 33 on the english and the 99th percentile for the writing. I know with my high school records I would get accepted, but my college grades aren't as good. I have about a 2.4 GPA, and am working on bringing it up.

I don't know if staying for the second semester will help my GPA and grades, but I am miserable and want to transfer there next year. I just want to get accepted so bad and don't want to jeopradize anything!

So I am basically asking would leaving my college for the second semseter jeopradize my chance of admission, even though I would be getting college credits spring semester.

If you are miserable, transfer to the CC and pull your grades up there.

If you don’t get admitted to WVU for fall 2013, stay at the CC, finish your associates degree, and then transfer.

To help make good decisions about transferring, visit the Transfer Forum and read through the thread at the top of that forum titled “Transfe admissions 101”.

Think carefully about **why **you are miserable so that you don’t transfer into a school where you will also be miserable. Have you talked to anyone in counseling services or your advisor about what is making you miserable? **And ** ask about the best way for you to transfer out if that is what you really want.
Do you need help academically? Lots of freshmen do! Adjusting to a college workload is difficult. You should take advantage of academic support systems your school has such as:
[University Learning Center: UNCW](University Learning Center | UNCW)
or talking to your professors.

Any school you transfer to will want to know why you are ‘beyond miserable’ especially if your grades are poor. They do not want to inherit someone who isn’t able to adapt or cope. You will need to explain as well why their school is a better fit and why you won’t have the same problems there as well.

Before you make such a drastic move, please make sure you visit your counseling center and your academic advisor to talk about what isn’t working for you. Sounds like you need help even if it’s just to get through the rest of the semester. Trying to tough it out alone is not a good use of emotional energy.
