High school class of 2016

Haha I guess that’s true, but for me at least, this is just where I’d like to be or think I will be in a year or two, based on where I am right now and the planning I’ve done. I took my SATs in middle school, and I bet there’s at least some others who have taken SATs or PSATs already.

@oonawong - YES, Stanford! But this year they had an even lower acceptance rate than Harvard, which made me want to bawl my eyes out…

I’m pretty sure most of us have taken PSATs, SATs, or at least a practice one.

There are still other things to take into consideration such as gpa and rank. All of that could change within the next three years.

True, and it’s rational to stay away from being too decided on a college so early on, but I don’t see what’s wrong with just having a list. We can always alter it later on, and this IS CC.

Agree with catchinginifinity, no harm done.

I apologize if you all took it that way. There’s definitely nothing wrong with having a list. I was just trying to say it’s too early to say one college is a reach or match etc.

Of course not! I see your point too. When would you say is the ideal time to come up with a college list?

It’s always good to have some in mind but personally, I would start looking at them more seriously junior year.

I’d rather have it now so you know what “area” to aim for. (not necessarily a dream school, but a good idea)

I mean it’s definitely good to start thinking about what you want in a college and maybe your major & career plans, but I plan to tour a bunch of colleges next summer. Towards the end of this year ill start narrowing it down to choose the ones I can really see myself applying to by the info online. Right now I have no idea where I want to go to college, my future career, or my major and that really bothers me, but the only way to figure t out is learn more about myself and what I enjoy. I took a lot of classes this year that I think will help me figure it out. I really enjoy math but I’m only on algebra 2 this year and I feel like its not a career I also like science. I didn’t really like bio last year for some reason, but this year I have chem and physics. I think neuroscience is pretty interesting. Research on the brain would be fun.

Anyway, for those of you that have your major and career picked, why?

Agreed ^
This obviously isn’t like 100% positive, but I’d like to major in pre-med/biology, since I really truly enjoyed biology this year, and eventually hope to become a doctor.

I’m not sure if I would enjoy being a doctor or neurologist because I’m an introvert and I think it’s a job for a personable person. My intuition also isn’t very strong. My dad and grandfather are both doctors and I’ve been to his office and the ER for his shift and I guess I enjoyed it, but I’m not sure if its right for me. I might also like business/Econ/accounting and I’m taking accounting this year so we will see. Business probably fit my personality beat I definitely like to follow the rules and have plans and be organized, but I’m also kind of shy and I don’t really like business attire. Meetings and conferences make me nervous so I don’t know where I’m going with my life at all.

I actually like not knowing what college I want to go to. For the past couple of years, I had a dream of going to a certain college. But, know that I’m not sure where I want to go I feel more . . . free? Lol-I don’t know how to explain it. But, being unsure of where you want to go doesn’t necessarily mean your confused. Besides, we are all probably going to be different people by the time we graduate.

I’ve always wanted to be an elementary teacher ever since I was in first grade. But now, I also want to be a special education teacher, because I really want to be part of their lives and help them. I’m not really sure, but I definitely know that I want to major in the education field. Furthermore, being a teacher is probably one of the only jobs that I actually suit me well.

Although it is a good idea to start thinking of reach/match/safety schools, I think it’s more important to figure out what one wants to major in. It will probably be really disappointing if one’s dream college doesn’t include his/her desired major. Still, it’s never too late to think about the list of colleges yet, because I already know where I want to do Early Decision. hahaha

By the way, did any of you guys start sophomore year yet? I know some schools did, but mine didn’t yet. Just curious :)

I start This Monday. I think a lot of peop started last and 2 weeks ago

*people.
10char

Good luck! Let us know what your first day was like! I didn’t even get my schedule yet and my school starts in September hahah It seems strange, though, because many schools have started already (like what you said).

Yeah I started this year.
I’ve gotten a lot more interested in teaching…it’s really the only thing I can see myself doing.

Hey, that’s pretty cool; same here! What do you want to teach? Elementary? Special? Secondary?
