High school class of 2016

^ my school is the same way as yours.

^hahah yayy, my school isn’t the only one :)

^ actually 11 grades class is trigonometry. We don’t have pre calc at all you just skip to calc. it’s weird. Those are the honors classes. Regular people take trig senior year.

We can skip, but only with a recommendation. I think that’s the fairest, because a teacher should know your abilities and potential the most by the end of the year.

@55al00m- Really? hahahah It works out, though, because I heard that trig is the basis of calculus.
@meander- Yeah. Now Im starting to think that being recommended is the only fair way lol It motivates students to work even harder, and it shows if they’re qualified.

This question is for everyone) What is your favorite subject at school? lol I’m just curious :p

I don’t know if this counts, but my favorite subject is band.

Really really. Math in general. Math comes extremely easily to me. At least to this point, I don’t know about when I get to calc and on. I also generally like science. I’m good with math and science and bad at the languages (english& French), history (IM okay),art (HORRIBLE. I can’t draw, write, paint and I’m not creative. Everything I make looks like vomit. I’ve always disliked art) , and music ( not really passionate about music. no instruments, can’t read music, and I’m pretty sure I’m tone deaf).

@Animefan1998- haha Band definitely counts! What instrument do you play? I used to play the flute but I quit lol
@55al00m- Yeah, math is one of my favorite subjects, but at least for now. Geometry was really fun, but I might hate math once I get to precalc or sth. haha You’re a total math/science guy! (or girl lol) I’m pretty much tone deaf too, and I always sing out of tune D: I’m strong in Chinese (my favorite subject!), but weak in history (although history is interesting sometimes) and science (not so much in bio, but def in chemistry and physics). I’m okay in English (reading is BAD but writing is good). haha I am creative, but I just can’t draw for life.

imhkim - My main instrument is the clarinet, but I also play the tenor sax for Jazz Band, and I’m kind of a ‘half-percussionist’. I really also want to learn the flute too, though! :P

That’s awesome! You’re so musically talented  I’ve always wanted to play the saxophone, because the sax just seems so cool. hahaha Yeah, playing the flute was fun but hard lol Try it sometime! You can already play a lot of instruments, so learning to play the flute won’t be too much of a hassle :p

Im a girl. I’m the opposite I love to read, but I’m a horrible writer and really bad at punctuation. It just never sounds wrong to me.
I CAN’T SLEEPPPPPP and I have to wake up early for church/ Sunday school tomorrow and school starts Monday ughhhh. So apparently my French teacher quit over summer and now we have a new one :gun::bomb::gun::bomb::gun:

Literally I’m gonna die. How Am I going to wake up at 5:30 tomorrow morning? How?
Do you guys just take the whole practice test? I feel like I never have 4 hours to do that so I just keep putting it off and I also need to make a template and come up with some essay examples which I’m also delaying which then delays the actual taking of the practice test. I told you I can’t punctuate. Now that school’s starting I have no idea when ill fit one in. I just put it off all summer.
Literally the whole summer I worried about careers, majors and colleges instead of studying for the SAT (which btw none of my classmates have even started remotely thinking about.). I’ll probably be one of 5 people taking the PSATs here. So basically I procrastinated on working On Something for my future by working on something even further in my future. Awesome. Seriously, i will sit down and read a book about study tips and test strategies instead of starting my homework. I have a problem.

Somebody else needs to post now. I think I’m going to take math 2, chem, and bio subject tests after/in junior year. Ill take my SAT in December and April of junior year. If I take the ACTs probably once in between those dates. Would it be a good idea to take a foreign language SAT to stand out a little bit or something? the med school combined program says that a foreign language subject test is recommended. I don’t know if I’m confident about French though.

I always end up loving math class the most!

My school needs a teacher rec to skip Pre-Calc, but it’s more like, if you ask for one, you get it. It’s not really enforced.

@55 - When’s your first day?

Tomorrow and then I go on a 1.5 week trip and come back to school on the fifth. So I’m a little nervous about missing all that school. It’s going to leave a bad impression which sucks. They probably won’t give me any of my work beforehand. They never do. I talked to the principal and he approved the trip so hopefully they all know. Especially since one of those days is unexcused and ill get zeros for all those assignments. Oh well …

Here’s to Precalc. Half the sophomores skipped to Calculus to avoid the Precalc teacher.

Hey, 55al00m, hope you feel a bit better now! Your principal approved it, so don’t worry too much about it. Also, it won’t leave you with a bad impression since teachers can’t really judge you negatively for that. If you make up the work, then you won’t end up with zeros (at least it works like that in my school). It’s normal to worry about colleges and stuff, so you’re not alone there :stuck_out_tongue: I tend to worry about stuff rather than to actually study too lol If you do want to study for the SAT, sign up for a prep class! I’m already enrolled in one and I’ll be going to SAT academy once a week lol Those prep classes usually give out one full length test every month or sth, so you won’t have to worry about time management. haha I assume you really want to go into med school. If language is recommended, then I guess it’s good to take it. I have no idea how hard the language tests are, but I think you’ll be fine if you study. I’m most likely going to take the bio test this year and math 2c in may junior year or sth. and SAT I in October of junior year to get it out of the way lol Whatever you do, good luck! Oh btw, which state do you live in?

Haha. Supposedly the algebra 2 teacher that I have this year is extremely strict/scary.

My sophomore schedule is finally coming out tomorrow! Im so nervous! I pretty much know who my teachers will be, but I need to know who my English teacher is (so many English teachers teaching soph English!) and when my lunch is lol There is one super hard teacher and a few really nice and lenient teachers so I need to be lucky :’( I ate lunch at 12:50 last year and I was always hungry throughout the day D: But I also don’t want to be stuck with period 4 lunch- at 10:40!
