High School Class of 2019

I’m a black female.
What about you?

That’s pretty cool. I’m white and male. (Since race matters, not.)

I just registered too! My schedule is as follows:
Pre-AP Geometry
Pre-AP Algebra 2
Pre-AP Biology I
Pre-AP English 9
Spanish I
AP Human Geography

Is this looking like a pretty rigorous schedule? I’m pretty sure it’s as good as it gets at my school.

@fourXsquared‌ That looks like a good schedule (assuming Pre-AP is equal to Honors).
At my school it’s impossible to take Geometry and Algebra 2 at the same time because the math department has messed up policies and the guidance counselors think that doubling up in math (any subject, really) is too difficult.
Also, if thats “as good as it gets at (your) school” then you’re good. Colleges look at your schedule in context of your school.

It is pretty rigorous, assuming we’ll be freshman.

My school also has strict policies towards doubling up on any subject.

I don’t know if my high school does. What does it matter though? Like, it’d make sense not to take algebra I and Precalculus in the same semester, but who cares about physics and chemistry together? Some schools are weird.

At my school I’m not allowed to take two math courses in the same year. In 9th grade I’ll be taking Geometry Honors, which means I won’t be able to take Calculus BC (or AB Idk) unless I skip a math grade. I don’t think I’m allowed to take any same subject courses in the same year. Unfortunate, because I would pick about 2 more per year.

What about summer school?
@OneExcitedDude‌

Right now I have no plans for summer. Most summer schools are full by now so I’d have to wait till next summer.

Oh. Well, maybe that’s for the best. Plus, the classes shouldn’t be too boring lol.

Wait @OneExcitedDude I don’t understand, if you take Geometry in 9th grade you are one year ahead which means you can take Calc in high school if you do this:
9th- Honors Geometry
10th- Honors Algebra 2
11th- Honors Precalculus
12th- AP Calc AB or BC
What does your school do differently?

Since my school is on a block schedule, we can take half those classes by the end of Freshman year. It’s pretty sweet :slight_smile:

We are on Block schedule too but we stay in the same classes throughout the whole year.

Our classes are blocked by semester. So each semester we switch to new classrooms, teachers and classes.

@IAmNotCreativ I don’t get to take one of the Calculus courses.

Why not @ OneExcitedDude

Whats your math sequence?

@OneExcitedDude

I’d be taking only the first level of Calc. I don’t know, I’m a little confused on the sequence of higher levels of math.

The math sequence at my high school is so messed up because we have to take a required semester course at the beginning of freshman year for math, so they broke down Algebra 2/Trig into Algebra and Trig, so now they’re semester courses instead of one full year.
