Hit rock bottom, want to reapply, should I even bother with reconsideration?

To keep my long story short, I was admitted to RU-NB for the spring 2018 semester as a transfer. Due to unforeseen circumstances, increased severity of financial issues, and having to work full time in addition to a full course load, my gpa dropped, by a lot… I was accepted with a 3.1 gpa. Because of the drop in GPA, RU revoked my admission a few days before the semester. I was told to reapply for the fall. I went from all failing grades in the fall to having mostly A’s and unfortunately 1 D during the spring. I learned how to manage my time, actually sit down and focus, and develop effective study skills a little late in the game (while still working full time hours and dealing with family issues), hence the one D grade.

NB schools are still open and I would like to apply for the fall 2018 semester since I exhausted all of my major classes at my CC. However I have only raised my GPA to a measly 2.53, which absolutely will not be enough for Rutgers, I have never heard of a transfer getting in with a 2.5. So I saved up, and am currently taking a class at RU that is difficult, but personally I am doing well. In addition, I am taking 2 more elective classes at my CC. This will only put me at 9 credits this summer in addition to the 14 I took this spring. So that is 23 credits Rutgers has never evaluated from me. While this almost equals 2 semesters, if I ace my classes and continue what I am doing, I will only have raised my GPA to a 2.7 or so, I really hit rock bottom in the fall… Should I even bother to apply for reconsideration at that point? RU is really my only option, I literally cannot afford anything else. I have exhausted the curriculum for my desired major at CC and doing another semester will honestly be a huge waste of time and fin aid won’t cover anything anymore at that point. What should I do?

I don’t know Rutgers but what about the College of New Jersey? They say the minimum transfer is a 2.5 with 12 units. You could build back up your gpa and go from there. What is your major and is it at TCNJ?

Unfortunately their program for my desired course of study is not up to the standards of Rutgers’. Additionally, I don’t know anyone who has gotten into TCNJ with my GPA. My fall semester was abysmal, no exaggeration at all. I don’t think I would be happy there as well, seeing as I have little to no desire to attend
