@anndaprincess: I applied for BBA as my first choice.

@sarthak: she said me that i need to get sumwat 90% for scholarships and she said hmm good good…impressive as i answered her questions with fluency and with confidence.
I too got the feeling that she would offer me a place in HKUST.
She was sort of very cool and asked me what kind of music do i like:rock ,soft as my caller tune was Do u Know by Enrique…
Am worried abt the scholarships…and do i have to deposit the money in the conditional letter…??

Hiya. waves @iRunshow: Oh. I don’t know what you mean by “start” logging onto the website in April. From what I gather, they don’t let you check your application status. They communicate by emails?
Oh. I read somewhere that HKU does rolling admissions i.e. start processing apps as they get them, that’s why some people get early decisions. Also like any other application deadline there’s an exponential rise in apps towards the last week of Jan, so that just puts a lot of apps for them to go through plus people rejecting offers. So i guess, decisions by April are understandable?
Chillllll~ I am also one of those who hasn’t heard a decision from them yet. (;

@amanagarwal: I have no idea. My supporting docs were sent on 1st feb. So I’m guessing they haven’t reached yet… Eh. I wanted to ask how do you get notified for the phone-interview thingie… like y’know you said “I’m also having my phone interview in like a few mins time”… that means they tell you earlier?
Me <– staying in an obscure place, connectivity is like a major problem. >_>

Aaaaand… anyone applied for Econs/ Econs& Finance at HKU/HKUST? just wondering if the decisions have started coming out. xP
Best of Luck Peeps~ XD

@lordxxx-i got 2 As and one B at AL AND 2As at AS

@rebecca- I did a bit of sports coaching and youth work till dec…Now doing a bit a travelling…i wonder why your decision is taking this long?? have you tried emailing them??
i think they are probably assessing you for a scholarship.
tell me more about your youth exchange programme!!!

@system failure-oh i never knew…thanks!!!:)

@Anand: I won’t email quite yet. I don’t mind waiting. Although if I don’t here by the end of February I guess I’ll send an email/try to get in contact.

Hey ppl,
its amazing to know this thread.
I am new to all this stuff…
I am a Pakistani High school student. I applied to HKU and HKUST in China. My first Choice is Engineering in HKU and Electronic Engineering in HKUST. My interview for HKUST is on Monday the 8th feb and for HKU its on Tuesday the 9th feb. Lol kinda cramped
Need advice ppl.
Thanks a million in advance

aman: That sounds great dude! I think you should expect to hear a positive reply from them soon
But if I have to give you one advice, if I may, Change your caller tune!! Enrique is cool but kind of like having Lady Gaga set as your caller tune!

System Failure: You will be happy to know my parents reported that Hong Kong is an amazing place, even better than Shanghai (which I think is mere exaggeration on their part), but still it is quite an awesome place! Will report to you their comments about HKUST once I get to hear them…

Everyone: The admission status on my online application is still set as under consideration so i’m guessing they dont bother updating it or maybe it doesnt work after submitting your application, cause I have even given in my deposit and have received the receipt of it too! So don’t worry about checking the admission decision online, just wait for an email response …

Rebecca: You have tremendous patience to be able to wait for your admission decision! I can never do that !! But it makes sense if you are thinking about Universities in other countries as well, cause once you get the HKUST decision you have to confirm within 2 weeks…

anndaprincess: My friend is in GB 2nd year at HKUST, if you do decide to go for it then I can ask her to help you out…

Sarthak: Do you really have to confirm within two weeks! That’s crazy. If there are extenuating circumstances, can they extend the deadline? And I guess I don’t mind waiting because it’s out of my hands. I’m either good enough to get in or I’m not and hearing it now or hearing it in two weeks doesn’t really change that.

System Failure: haha… and your profile says you live in Pandora! do you come from planet Earth system failure? check cause HKUST might different policies for Pandorians ?!
Jokes apart tell me what the score is in India vs S.Africa ?!

Rebecca: Yes you do have to… However, you can call them and ask them for an extension too, and they are okay with it! Well for me hearing it asap is way better cause then I can start thinking about the next step/stage… And besides I am too restless to wait quietly ! :P

Hey guys
found out that UST is male dominated by quite a lot (71%)…that totally sux!!!..
I still have to consider a lot of things and the deadline is fast approaching…arghh
replying within 15 -17 days i such a stupid idea…

System Failure: Don’t worry i’m used to cultural and all other sorts of differences, as an expat! So i’m actually very accepting of the fact that you are an alien! And you would be surprised to know, (or maybe not), I (secretly), am a big fan of the pandorian people ;)

Rebecca and System Failure: And from the conversation you and Rebecca are having I am having second thoughts about HKUST!! quote rebecca: “So many males!” Now that sounds VERY scary and uninviting…

Anand: 71% !!! Are you serious!!! I’m am on the verge of killing myself while crying and cursing the admissions department !!! But on second thoughts there are still 29% girls, so its not as bad as schools like Kettering and Cooper Union in US ! And besides Hong Kong is a BIG place with lots of other Universities, so worry not my friend :)
