Yeah, in all the movies, society, random people, etc. it's all like "high school (senior year in particular) should be the best time of your life la la la". Do you think so?

I don't, really...I think that HS is okay in general...but I think college will be like 1000 times better. I mean, does anyone in HS really have like the wild movie adventures? (i.e. Risky Business, Fast Times at Ridgemont High (well if you're Spicoli every day is the best day of your life), American Pie, etc.)---->Obvious answer is "It's the movies, duh, they're exaggerated!

I have a group of friends in HS...but nothing wild. No girlfriend (just...not into that commitment stuff...yet), and I am equally as likely to spend a Saturday night out at the movies as I am at home engrossed in a good book. No real drinking, no pot or drugs, just a few cigars every now and then with friends. My friends and I...not the party crowd, if you know what I mean. Those are the drunk off their ass every weekend, barely getting into state school kind of kids. Not really "into" stuff like homecoming, prom...I guess I'm just "finding myself" and waiting for college. Will I reinvent myself in college? Probably not. Have more fun/adventures in college? It's only natural, with no parents, etc. around...and no driving 15 min. to friends' house...they're there on campus, 24/7. Anyone else like me?

Feel free to weigh in, and if you want to make fun of the OP, that's fine too. You gotta learn how to laugh at yourself.

I know what you mean. Lots of movies "over-glorify" the high school experience. It's cool and all, but not as er... glamorous and adventurous as the movies make it out to be. When I was in eighth grade I was anticipating high school very much, and when I got here I realized that it is a pretty relaxed sort of place. Maybe it is 'cause I am not much into the party scene and stuff, but nothing epic really has happened. I go to some of the dances and it is quite a bit more lame than the high school dances in movies and tv shows are lol (but they are still fun ;) ) I also think that college will be the real mindblowing experience. But then again, we have a tendency to think that the grass is always greener on the other side lol

Yeah, I pretty much agree with most of what you said. And I don't even WANT highschool to be the best time in my life. I think it would be sad to peak so early on. And I also think that college will be a lot better. High school is just plain blah.

senior year is the worst time of my life. i had to transfer schools in the middle of my junior year and its impossible to fit in with people who have known each other since middle school here. i even applied for summer term in college because i want to get out of here as soon as i can haha.

and i am in all ap classes so i am surrounded by lame kids all day. i used to go wild with my old friends and whenever someone did something stupid or said something stupid we never were like "*** that is wierd" we just laughed and had fun. i hope to meet people like that in college, people who can have fun but are chill at the same time. only 6 months till summer b starts july 1... what college did you apply to?

Freshman year was terrible, sophomore year was so-so, junior year was awesome, and senior year has been uber stressful. I'm hoping college will be better.

Freshman year sucked, sophomore year was pure hell (katrina year), junior year was a breath of fresh air after sophomore, and senior year is both good and bad.

And I certainly wouldn't say that it's the best time of my life... too much college stress right now.

I hope not.. I'm not a senior but I have def. not had fun for the majority of HS (Have had fun times. But if I think of my HS career thus far, I still cringe).. So if this is the best time of my life. Well I'll be one depressed 20-something or 30-something.. and (40,50,60etc-something)!

It's pretty sad that everyone here is so quick to shun high school.

Has anyone ever considered the fact that you might be the problem that highs school is so bad, not everybody else?

You have to do something for yourself every once in a while, you can't just expect things to change with college. Sure, you start on a clean slate, but you obviously did something to screw up the clean slate you had before as a freshman in high school, no?

I'm not saying high school was bad - I've had a blast. I'm just saying I expect it to get even better in college, as opposed to an "it's all downhill from here" attitude.

Sorry, I was referencing the billions of threads on here where everyone whines and blames the people around them for high school being so terrible.
