I would second that vote for a learning community. I think whatever you can do to help your kid find like minded people right away is really helpful.

Kinda going through the Elon threads as they helped me last year when I was applying, figured I’d give a little back this year!

I’m a freshman as well, and I’ve loved it so far, it’s been an amaaazing experience. I definitely agree with what was said before, joining clubs and things is definitely the best way to make friends. If anyone is still having trouble meeting good groups of people, you can reply or shoot me a PM, and I can help them out! I’m mainly involved in Elon Local News (I’m a communications fellow as well, which has helped) and Catholic Campus Ministry, which is very fun as well. I live in the Global Neighborhood (though I have friends who live in the historic neighborhood, Colonades, the Oaks, etc, so I may know them!) and help plan events and future plans with the Neighborhood as part of being a student representative on the committee. Elon Local News is an amazing group of people as well, and are extremely accepting and helpful with the new members, and you don’t have to be majoring or doing anything with communications to join!

Let me know if I can be of any help!!
