Has this happened to anyone else? It seems odd to me that NU claims to admit top 10% of applicants to Honors and that they will consider top 25% for merit scholarship but D disn't get a merit scholarship notification.......

merit is really based on sat score…so through her work in school, she may be top 10% of the incoming class…but because of her sat score, yeah.

Merit is not just based on SAT score, actually. My SAT score was really really good, and I got 14k instead of 16k. It’s an overall decision.

If it helps: Her SAT score is 2220 and unweighted GPA is 3.9.

It can’t hurt to call NEU Admissions and ask about this. Those stats sound pretty good.

Similar situation here, but the other way around. I got a very good merit scholarship, but no honors program.

Honors is top 10 percent in that major, merit money is an overall. Merit money is sometimes used for students from another geographic region they want, a top student in a major they want to boost, etc. A lot of factors other than percentage go into the merit money decision.

Well, after some searching, I found this on the NEU finaid so I think I will be giving admissions a call:
