Honors Law

Is anyone else thinking about going through this? Any thoughts....

Yeah, I got the letter today and am definitely considering it. Really, there's no risk. It's like an automatic in to grad school and even if I decide that Law is not for me, it's a great way to keep my options open.

It sounds like such a great opportunity, but I am not interested in law. Too bad it's not automatic acceptance into MED school!!!

off topic, nat - are you going down to visit richmon on any of the open days? I'm leaving next friday for the April 11th visit.

on topic, is the law school really that good because the only real benefit i see is that you dont have to take the LSAT. Plus they get your tuition a few more extra years.

From what I gleaned from the program, it's a way to 1) take the burden/stress off applying to law schools (at least you're in somewhere) 2) attract better undergraduate students via the honors law program 3) increase the reputation of its law school.

As far as its law school goes. It isn't one of the "top" schools. It's not one of the bottom. It's in the middle, though students at the school and princeton review seem very impressed with what it has done in recent years and that it should be "ranked higher than it is."

Looking at the requirements, it seems that the Honors Law program is more of an idea than an actual curriculum. It includes students with "any" major who maintain a 3.5 gpa. So, I think it's a very good option to utilize. By being active in the program, it seems to open many possibilities. I really see few drawbacks with it. Students have some doors opened for them, university has the opportunity to retain its "top" students.
