My D applied RD to Denison. Yesterday she recieved a newsletter about the Honors Program. It wasn't really a promotional piece; nowhere did it say how you join, or explain what was required. It just highlighted some faculty and sudents. Do they send this to everyone who applies?

My daughter is a senior at Denison - as I recall, she did not apply for the Honors Program, but was instead asked to join based on her GPA and possibly her test scores.

My daughter has been very happy at Denison, so much so that she does not want to graduate in May and leave the school and her friends!

Islandgirl, I don't know if that goes out to everyone, but DD received the same info last year as a HS senior. She didn't intend to apply for the Honors Program but was selected by the school based on HS grades and test scores. She is very happy in the program and doing well. Many freshman in the honors program end up in the same dorm together (this year it seems to be Beta House) where they can offer each other support.

Thanks -it sounds like a terrific opportunity.

Hi, I'm associated with the Denison Honors Program. Your daughter received the newsletter because the information we have on her indicates she may be a good candidate for our Honors Program. We only send it to those we classify as "Honors prospects." As an Honors prospect, she should also have received an earlier mailing which included a brochure explaining the program and how students are selected to participate. If she didn't get this information, please call either your Admissions representative or the Honors Program and we'll be happy to send that information to her.

Ms. Sunkle ... should one assume then if they've not received that information by this time, they're not a candidate?

Child is also an Honor's Program participant. He has taken some great honors classes that go a bit deeper than the usual ones. Would recommend this to anyone who is asked to participate.
