Hosting during Williams Previews

I plan to attend the previews on april 19-20, and since I live far away, I'll either spend the night at a hotel or get hosted by a student

how does this hosting work? are we randomly assigned to a student or can we request one? also where would I sleep? ;) (should I be bringing a sleeping bag)

do parents stay at a hotel?

oh and who else is attending? can't wait to meet my future classmates!

You will be hosted by a student, randomly assigned unless you know someone. You will bring a sleeping bag and sleep on the floor or perhaps on a common room sofa. Your parents can stay at a hotel, there is a list on the Williams website. If you are coming from a distance you might want to come in the night before. They have a nice continental breakfast setup in the morning- tell your parents not to buy breakfast out.

You will go off on your own, meet your host, attend classes and go on department tours and such. There are separate events for your parent to attend. There are a number of museums in the area and other things to keep them busy as well.

Is it possible to come on my own? I live near philadelphia. Could I take the train up to albany and then take the shuttle to williams?

If they are offering a shuttle from the train station then you can do just as you said. There will be students without parents, either way is fine.

There is a schedule of shuttles from the airport and train station in Albany, As I recall, space is limited and reservations should be made…there was a link in the acceptance package.

Hi - is it worth visiting Williams as an admitted student if you can only come on the weekend? We can come the weekend before preview days, but wonder what will be going on then. It looks like there are no tours, but will there be any other events or will students be around?

Is there anyway you can extend to Fri. or Mon.? We came three weeks ago and they were very accommodating about sitting in on classes and seeing profs. We felt like we did a lot on just a Sun. afternoon and Mon. morning. Williams is now one of my d’s top three choices - we are at Middlebury until tomorrow and then will do the previews at all three schools. I really think she will like W or possibly Midd overall the best, even more than the ivy she was accepted at.

I’ll be at Previews!! I’m almost certainly attending Williams, so I hope I can meet people and have some friends on my first day haha.

Does anyone know if I would be able bring someone who is not an accepted student to stay overnight?

I’ll be at previews. Can’t wait to see everyone. :)
