Housing Choices

How does this look? Academics are my priority, but I would like to have some fun my first year.

Unit 1 Double

Unit 2 Double

Foothill Double Suite

Foothill Triple Suite

Foothill Quad Suite

then stay away from foothill...

There's an official dormitory thread on the second page which would be useful for you.

If you would like some fun generally the units are more social, while Foothill is generally more quiet.

Well, I guess I want to have my cake and eat it too. Unit 1 Double and Unit 2 Double are my top two choices because they seem to be the best balance between fun and studying. But then I get stuck with the last three choices.

Unit 3 seems a little too social for me, Clark Kerr is too far away and I don't think I'd like Bowles either. As far as Foothill, I like that it's generally quiet, but from what I hear it's anti-social and far from much of the campus. Still, I think I'd still prefer too quiet to too loud or too far, and, from what I hear, I could always come down to the Units to socialize. I want to major in chemistry, so I will be studying quite a lot.

Perhaps this order would be better:

Unit 1 Double

Unit 2 Double

Unit 1 Double (Freeborn)

Foothill Double Suite

Foothill Triple Suite

I think I'd be fine with the substance free aspect, so wouldn't this give me a greater chance of ending up in one of the units?

Thanks.

Unit 3 is pretty old and the facilities aren't as nice.

You could do Freeborn...I don't know much about it.

Foothill is okay. I think Clark Kerr is pretty far and generally had to get as a freshman.

Bowles from what I hear isn't great.

I think your first list or your revised list is okay. Seems like you really don't want triples. :p

are triples that bad? im trying to think what to put for my last two choices after doubles in each of the units

how "bad" do you think they are?

i have a friend who lives in foothill...she says it pretty good

well id really rather be in the res halls than suites but i dont know if its worth the triples

You still didn't explain what you mean by "bad." Hard to help you if you aren't going to explain that.

overcrowded

my friend recommends unit 1 for bio majors, she also says unit 3 is too old and foothill is kinna expensive and far from campus

well technically, foothill's not far from campus - in fact, it's right across the street from campus, only it's the northeast corner of campus.

"unit 1 for bio majors" ? why? i mean unit 1's got a nice location but i don't see the connection to bio majors.

ahahah, how should i know? i mean, i asked her for a recommendation and she asked me what her major was so i told her is was bio...she said, "then you should go for unit 1" yep....

you don't want to live in a triple in the units. triple in units = very crowded. unit 1 substance free is noticeably quieter than rest of unit 1.
