Housing questions

Hi

I got my housing assignment today for spring '09 (I'm a spring admit). I've been assigned to Founders, an apartment off-campus (17min walk). Obviously, I'm not too excited about it, but I expected something like that, and at least I got housing. But with all the bad news we've heard lately (one student stabbed, others robbed) my parents are a bit worried about my safety. Is anybody here familiar with Founders and could tell me something about its location?

Also, does anybody know if it's possible to move in earlier than 1/8/09? Thanks!

awelex-My son is a Spring Admit and he also got Founders Apartments for his student housing. Oddly, our family is quite familiar with Founders. My husband lived in Founders for 2 years when he was an undergrad- 25 years ago! It is convenient to the row. As for safety- it is on the outskirts of student housing. I highly recommend you bring a bike. It is a quick ride to campus. I am a little disappointed our son will not have the dorm experience. But, living in a apartment does have some added benefits. Who knows- you could be our son’s new roommate!

Haha, what a coincidence! What’s his major?
Yeah, I read that a bike is recommended. Unfortunately, however, I don’t have one (yet). Oh well, we’ll see.

If you contact the CSC, they might let you move in a little early for about $50 per night.

@cynicalowl: thanks, I’ll ask them.

I just found out that two of my roommates are freshmen as well. Nice!
