How are my chances

Hey could someone accepted into Harvard give me a fair estimate of my chances on getting in please? Thanks guys

4.0 GPA unweighted, 4.33 weighted.
I am taking the hardest courseload possible, which is only 7 APs total throughout my highschool career at the top private school in my area.
I would be valedectorian if I did not take band, but I am ranked 2nd or 3rd right now.
36 on ACT.
Subject tests: 800 math II, 720 US history, 670 Lit (I am taking AP lit this coming year, so I plan to retake this test as well as take the Chem subject test).
Former President of one of the top 20 key clubs in the world, now I am VP.
Officer in NHS, band, Rho Kappa, Mu Alpha Theta.
Chairman of huge projects, raising $5k, $15k, and $25k each, earning awards in the top 3 positions in each category in Key Club International.
5s on both US history and Engl Lang AP exams (only ones available at my school for juniors).
Half Mexican.
Hopeful National Merit.
Work 10 hours a week during school.

I'm not sure what I want to major in, but I really love the liberal arts experience.

If you guys could give me an estimate, thatd be great. Thanks again!

Oh yeah and over 900 legit community service hours (social justice is one of my passions along with learning)

i could almost guarantee your acceptance. just make sure you say you are mexican on your application.

I also went on one mission trip and set up another. Thanks crimsonman. can i get a 2nd or 3rd opinion???

Decent shot 10char.

36 ACT + URM + strong in everything else = in at Harvard, but there's the possibility that you'll get rejected or waitlisted at other elite schools--even Harvard--because they'll think you'll attend some other school. I daresay you'd be the sort of student to receive a "multicultural likely letter" from, say, Stanford or Yale.

You have a strong chance but don't be disappointed if you don't since there are a lot of amazing applicants. Are you planning to apply to liberal arts colleges, too?

I shall predict your chances! I see all, and I know all!

"Reply hazy, try again."

hold on I'll give it another shake

"Signs point to yes!"

To agent, I do not think so. I mean Wake Forest, but no true liberal arts colleges. Thanks for all your help guys. I really want to go to Harvard and Boston, but I don't wanna apply if my odds aren't too good...

No, I'm fairly sure that your passion for volunteer work really shows through in your ECs. I praise you for being able to stick with one thing you love, as opposed to doing a million things without major accomplishments. Plus, the racial factor is really going to play in your favor. A friend of mine (who is a quarter Mexican, with a very Mexican last name) applied to the ivies and the top universities last year, and was accepted basically everywhere but Dartmouth. Of course, he is also a brillian cellist, but I'm sure that having Latino roots helped him as well.

See I kinda get screwed because i have a white name and look completely white. No one would know I'm more Mexican than white unless I said so or something...

Well, say so! It's your heritage - you shouldn't hide it.

Thanks Olgita!!! So it's just a crapshoot now?

While admission at a top school is subjective, it's never just a crapshoot. I might not be able to tell you with 100% certaintly whether you will get it or not, but I do know that you need to write the best essays and get the best recs that you can. Don't just leave it up to fate.

Sorry to hijack the thread here, but I have a quick question that's kinda (ok not really) related, but just how much of an ethnicity do you need to be (?) to put it on your application? For example, Millerl1te is half Mexican. Is that enough to put Mexican down? Is a quarter? An eighth? Are there standards for these sorts of things?

Just curious because I know some people who put some underepresented ethnicity when they can barely trace back to find that in their families. I am a quarter Puerto Rican, and whether or not it's acceptable to put that down I won't, because I don't really identify myself as that, I think of myself as Caucasian. But what IS enough to justify putting it down?

Oh, and Millerl1te, I think you have a better shot than many, but still, it's all a crapshoot as you said, but good luck!

I think you can go as far as 1/16.

i'm more Mexican than anything else, so I'm just putting that down. And thanks lilyrobin!

and yes, I think Olgita is right

Any more opinions guys?

Ethnicity has a long history in the recent past of being abused for personal gain, college applications are no exception. Put whatever you need to put, since the cradle of humanity is in Africa we are all African Americans. Frankly, I find all the discussion of mexican=in offensive.

Sorry GroovyGeek. This is a touchy subject still, but technically I am more Mexican than anything else, so I am putting that down :)
