How do Admissions Officers interpret international academic results?

I’m from Australia and have just recently applied to a few schools. I was wondering, does anybody know how AOs interpret international academic results? Do they have a faculty member they ask to interpret them?.

In Australia, we don’t have a centralized examination board so each state has their own. For example, Victoria has the VCE, New South Wales has the HSC and Queensland has the QCE.

Each of them have their own separate curriculums, grade scales, courses etc. so without specific knowledge about each system, how could they assess factors such as academic rigour and achievement?.

No.

AO’s that handle international applicants, particularly those at universities commonly mentioned here, have a good understanding of grading standards around the world.
