I'm a senior, this is my last semester before I graduate, so i decided to take an SAT test preparation class just to see if it would help my scores (which it didn't). I had missed like the first 2 weeks of the class because I had my schedule changed so I had missed 2 weeks of assignments. my grade was doing good in there, I didn't think I had to worry about the assignments I wasn't there for because on the progress reports he had gave me it said that those assignments weren't being counted for and he never mentioned anything about them. Then at the last minute when grades were close to being due he changed them all to 0's and my grade became an F. so I went to him, and he gave me make up work to do to make up the grade, which I did them and HE ENDED UP LOSING THEM and gave me more copies, I did those and turned it into him, he acted like he didn't even want to take them. I waited almost 2 weeks before I started asking him every time I had seen him if he had changed the grade and he always made up an excuse "oh I'm getting to it right now" "the computer is down" and complained that I was pressuring him! is he serious??? I'm a freaking senior, and I need my transcripts to look good for the college I'm sending it to. It only took my economics teacher a week to change my grade from a C to a B but it took him over a month to finally change my grade and it only went up to a D. I am sooo tired of dealing with him, and this stupid class is making my transcripts and report card look bad, it probably can even stop me from graduating if I don't pass it because right now for this semester he has me with the stupid D and an F all my grades are great except for this class that I haven't learned anything in. there's only 2 weeks left for me until my senior year ends, how do I deal with a teacher who doesn't seem to care.

be more assertive with him? Also, is the low grade going to prevent you from graduating in any way?

I really don’t know, I’m going to try and see my guidance counselor tomorrow to see if this class will hold me back. I hope it doesn’t because he is ridiculous.

It is fairly riddiculous. It’s not just you either; at my school this happens all the time to different people. One of my friends (her situation is much worse than yours) is trying to pass her math class to graduate, but she’s been absent for a few days and every time she comes in to make up the tests she missed, the teacher is either busy or absent, so she’s seriously facing the danger right now of not graduating, or not graduating with the diploma she wanted. Aww.

Maybe he feels that you’re pressuring him too much? Seriously, it’s your senior year and colleges are probably not going to rescind you or anything for a bad grade in a SAT prep course (why take that class in the first place?!). Well, good luck!

Threaten to go above him, and I’m not merely talking the department head or the principal. Head to the superintendent and do what you can.

If you still get no help, call ALL OF THE MEDIA OUTLETS IN TOWN. There’s no guarantee they will show up, but they always love that little bull-**** story now and then that makes other people feel good.

^um, I can’t tell if you’re being serious.

How do I even approach him? I don’t even like dealing with him, how do I tell him that I am not at all satisfied with my grade. If I go to my guidance counselor what more can she do??

talk to the principal

Approach him. You have to. Talk to him, and do it assertively like someone said above. You’ll fix the problem by talking to him, nothing else. Talk to him, and then go above him if he doesn’t fix the problem. Chances are if you lay out the situation to him and be firm about what you want, he’ll accommodate you, but if he doesn’t, go speak to those in greater authority. Key is speed here. Do this as soon as possible, Monday. In the meantime, try to do as much of the missing work that you can over this weekend or any of the makeups he gave you.

I turned all the make up work into him a month ago, and he just got around to grading it, and it only went up to a D. I see him again on Monday, but I still don’t know how to approach him about my grade. Do I say " The grade you gave me will still make me fail your class"???

That really sucks
But just try to have a proper talk with him alone and explain the situation in an assertive way. If that does not do anything, go talk to the principal.
Best of luck for you!

Obnoxious walk in and outburst.

Mature way, speak in a firm and appropriate way explaining that he has not lived up to what he needs to do.

No, don’t talk to your principle unless he’s one of those active, socially aware principles. (which I’ve never had) There’s too much stuff for the principle to do.

Talk to your guidance counselor. Most likely she only works on your class (seniors) and that is her job. She works specifically for your class and your transcripts. Go to her with your problem straightforward and tell her that school ends in 2 weeks. Make it sound like an emergency/help call.
