Do you say your gonna try to go into Ross your Freshmen year and work towards during your undergrad years? Or do you just go through you undergrad like anyone else and then whenever you feel like it, get you major at Ross?
You apply for bba preadmit during high school. If u dont get in u cannot apply for cross transfer bba
So pretty much with your application into the university of Michigan you apply for Ross?
You can’t get your undergrad work for a couple years and then try to get into Ross when you are 25-26
timvasilyev, sure you can, but that would not longer be an undergraduate degree, it would be an MBA (Master of Business Administration). But you do not have to go to Michigan as an undergrad in order to get into the Ross MBA program. You can go to any college or university, major in virtually any field you like, work for 3-4 years and then apply to Ross and other good MBA programs.
So if I go to michigan and study economics and then go get a job, I can come back and get my mba?
My goal is to work at wall street so what route should i take?
Recommended routes in priority order to WS assuming you are applying to Michigan as a Freshman:
- Apply to Ross as a preadmit and hope you get in (they are taking many more now preadmit). Then do well at Ross and shoot for a WS job directly out of undergrad.
- Don’t apply for Ross until after your Freshman year at Michigan. That route is probably considered tougher than in the past as Ross is admitting fewer via this route. Note: If you apply preadmit now and don’t get accepted, you can’t apply to Ross after Freshman year. Anyway, if you get into Ross this way, you can still shoot for WS straight out of undergrad.
- Complete your Econ degree (or whatever you wish) as an undergrad. Get a good position (or two) for about three years, then apply to Michigan (or elsewhere) for your MBA. Then shoot for a WS position coming out of your MBA.
I put the MBA route as third as you’ll have to pay for your MBA and give up your salary for the two years of the program and not get to WS until about five years out of your undergrad. In this case through you’d likely start as an Associate rather than an Analyst (as you would straight out of undergrad).
Ross BBA is a major target for Wall Street firms, second only to Wharton, and on par with Stern and other elite colleges and universities.
For some reason, Ross MBA is not nearly as aggressively recruited by Wall Street firms. It is far more highly recruited by the likes of McKinsey and BCG.
You can certainly major in Economics (or Engineering or CS or English etc…), work, and then go for your MBA. But if you wish to work for a Wall Street firm right out of college, and choose to attend Michigan, I recommend Ross. Wall Street firms focus more on Ross than the other colleges within Michigan.
I pretty much have decided that I want to get my MBA one way or another. If I don’t get into Ross School of Business Preferred Admission would that MBA help me get to Wall Street and make it big there. I know that sounds slightly arrogant but I’m extremely motivated and ambitious
