How does 3 differ creditwise than 5?

I got a 3 on the AP Biology exam and saw that on UCLA's website, they accept a 3,4,or 5 for 8 unassigned unit credits. Does that mean that getting a 3 gives me the exact benefits of the 5 or does a 5 get more units? Also, getting a 3, does that transfer as a C on my transcript in college and a 5 gets an A on their transcript? What's the difference between getting a 3 and a 5 at a college that accepts both? Thanks.

No…a grade is never assigned to an AP score…If the college gives credit for a 3,4,or 5…then you simply get credit. In the transcript it will say,

Biology 101 (whatever class the credit was for)- CREDIT

That’s it, no numerical grade get assigned unless you took that class at a college.
So, to answer your question, a 3 is the same as a 5; however, depending on the college, you might get more units of credit for a 5 than a 3.

BigWeight is absolutely right!

from the sounds of that, it must make no difference for UCLA, so good for you. hahaha.

thanks so much for the replies. so what does it mean by 8 unassigned unit credits? is that elective credits or credits towards the degree? sorry i’m kinda confused about this.

I imagine it is elective credits, because if they are unassigned they are not really given any specific credit. So ya, most likely just elective credit.

credit is credit period
