it’s next to impossible to get in. i was at housing the other day, the one ones with open rooms left are stonehaven and IV. but people reject their contracts everyday so if you call frequently, you might be able to grab something. but there are lot of non-university owned apartments that are actually just as close or closer than some of the “on-campus” apartments, which really aren’t on campus but just university owned. Campus crossings, highlander pointe, university village apartments, grandmarc, sterling palms, and uv towers are all within walking distance (although biking is probably better), and some of them are closer than stonehaven and iv.

And Stonehaven and IV are the most expensive apartments (because they’re furnished). There’s some cheaper ones around the area not owned by the school that you can look at. But I was kinda weary of that because then not everyone in the apartments is a student and Riverside is a shady area…

im lost and confused… so im hearing people say that rooms get filled before you even apply and apts are all already filled with all the current ucr students… so if ucr is going to gurantee us 2 years of housing, how is that possible if everythings already filled

thing is, housing fills up fast. what they will do is give you whatever is left over. It also depends on when you applied for housing. By this time dorms probably have filled up. Most of the student apartments have as well unless there are roommate issues, then people are moved around, or kids who get kicked out. But they’ll probably get you in the UVT (University Village Towers) because the school has a contract with them and that is usually where students are put when everything else is full. They aren’t that bad, and is furnished. but also is about a 15-20 min walk from campus depending on speed and traffic lights.
IV is pretty expensive and stonehaven is about the same distance. but for both UVT and stonehaven there is a trolley that can get you to campus.

As for why they’re filling up, it’s because UCR wasn’t ment to have as many students as they do have now and are quickly filling capacity so it’s just getting harder to get what you want if you wait too long, especially since if you’re already in an apartment you get first say. and dorms are based on how early you submit and such.

Grandmarc and sterling/palms though is both off campus apartments but Grandmarc is across the street from UVT and sterling/palms isn’t too far away from the University Village either.
