How hard is it to transfer to uva...

… as an incoming second year that isn’t from Virginia or going to a Va school? I’ll have the high gpa, test scores, but low (3.1) high school gpa. Getting into UVa (or an equal school) is my motivation for college. I’m worried that I’ll get denied again bc I’m not from Virginia. Has anyone here gotten in from out of state?

We’ll be really interested in seeing what courses you’ve taken in college. We have recommended coursework on the transfer website that is specific to each academic area.

We take plenty of OOS transfers, but just as with first-year admission, the Virginia residents get the majority of the offers.

@“Dean J” I am taking some courses that fulfill requirements on the Arts and Sciences transfer page but they don’t have a UVA course equivalent on the credit analyzer. Will this affect my admissions decision?

Umm I’m no Dean J, but UVA’s goal with accepting all their students is to have them graduate with a degree in 4 years, even more so with transfers. Rest assured that if you don’t get credit for a couple courses or so it’s not necessarily a big deal(unless you want to like double major or something), but if a large amount of your classes end up being worthless at UVA, then it’s like accepting a student knowing their behind the curve and will most likely not finish on time. With that said, I transferred, and a couple of my classes I took i didn’t get relevant credit for.

I am on the same page. I want to apply to transfer in the Fall 18 to UVA, but I am from NY. I meet the average GPA and I know HS aren’t all that important. I don’t have outstanding ECs but I have played in sports and have a part time job, and did a club.
