How hard is the workload?

I got into UNC-chapel hill as a junior transfer. I currently have a 4.0 at Pepperdine University and I’m worried I won’t be able to get good grades if I go to UNC since it’s a more academically rigorous school. I already study 5-7 hours a day as it is. Is it feasible to get a 3.9+ at UNC? Can it be done if you’re willing to put in the study hours? Are there classes where it’s impossible to get an A? If AP classes are a 5 in difficulty on a scale of 1-10 and CP classes are like a 3, how hard would you say classes are at UNC? 9? 10? I’ve heard that public universities are impossible to do well at. I’ve heard stories of straight A students and former valedictorians getting 2.0’s at places like UCLA, UVA, Cal, Michigan. Are theres reports exaggerated? I don’t party, or get distracted and my only free time is spent working out and reading. I have about 8 hours max each day to study and I’m willing to utilize all of it if I need to.

Depends on the major! It would be brutal in certain areas such as Pre-med in CAL/UCLA (which I am familiar with).

I would be a Business Admin major with a concentration in finance

First, don’t just study. A LOT of your post-college outcomes will be linked to what you do out of class, and what leadership role you took as well as internships or research etc. Your skillset needs to be expanded as much as possible.
Second, your goal should be 3.75-3.8 if you want to be part of the academic elite… A 4.0 doesn’t change anything so your time will be better invested in balancing classes and activities. I would say that if you have 8free hours, 5-6should be dedicated to studying and 2-3 should be involvement, networking, etc.

Whatever you estimate Pepperdine to be, it’s +1 for unc kf. Don’t stress out.

Do not stress. The school has a nice balance and many students feel as though they can get through the work and also be involved on campus.
