How important are mid-year reports to Scripps Admission?

Hey!

I've applied to Scripps RD/Merit Based Scholar and I was wondering how important Mid-Year Reports are to the admission process? Right now I'm taking 6 AP/IB/Honors classes but I'm really struggling and I'm getting a lot of B's in them. Is this going to hurt my chances significantly?
Classes I'm taking are:
AP/IB Calc AB
AP/IB Bio
Civics Honors/IB
AP Psychology
AP/IB Spanish 4
English 4 Honors IB/HL
Contemporary World Issues Honors/IB
Right now i may be getting 4 B's and I'm really scared that my chances for most of my colleges are going to go out the door :( Please help!!

Athena, you’re doing your best, right? So there’s really no point in worrying. Make sure that you’ve identified good safety schools, give the application process and your schoolwork everything you’ve got, and see what happens. If you really have not identified safety schools, you still have a little time. Lots of good schools have 1/15 application deadlines, and some have 2/1 or even 3/1 deadlines. As far as admission to Scripps goes, cross your fingers and hope for the best. Holistic admissions are not entirely predictable, and there’s lots more to you than your mid-semester grades.

I applied through the second early decision for Scripps and my first semester senior grades are pretty bad…:frowning: I’m really worried and I just wanted to let you know that you’re not the only one who’s worried about the mid-year report. I’m taking a lot of AP classes as well and it was definitely hard to maintain amazing grades.

Hi there I’m a senior at Scripps.

Scripps does look at mid-year reports, but if you’re taking hard classes and you are struggling a bit, this is not going to make or break your acceptance. Scripps understands that. Most schools ask for a mid-year report to see if you’re taking all “easy” classes that may not be anything you’re interested in, and getting low grades in them. This is just a clear indicator if you still care, and if you’re still trying.

If your grade point average is average or high, and all of a sudden it has dropped 5 points, then this is where Scripps would most likely have an issue.

Hope this helps a little!
