How is Pardee Dorm at USC?

Son found out today........wondering how it is. He did not apply for the outdoors floor. Will he still be able to go on any outings with them? Just wondering.

Is it advisable to lock the valuables when going to the bathrooms? How do people lock their Laptops?

bump!!!

According to Nikara’s post Pardee is a large dorm (tower). From the map it faces a greenspace and appears to be a short distance from Doheny Library where I used to study. LOL A short walk across McCarthy Quad is the new Leavey Library.

From her description Pardee is relatively social, has a washer and dryer on each floor and has a new plasma screen TV. At the time she posted it was supposed to have the lounge area redone. I do not know if that has taken place.

It will be closer than some of the dorms to the brand new student center.

Great! Thanks!!!

What food plan do you recommend? Is there a In-out-burger nearby?

I got Pardee Tower too!

I know there’s an Outdoors floor, I didn’t apply for it, but are we still able to join their activites and such?

I also want to know if you can joing Great Outdoor’s activities; I found out about it after I paid the fee so I could’nt join

Pardee is a very stereotypical college dorm.

I’m sure you can go on outings with the outdoors floor if you get in contact with the RAs in charge.

If you close your door when you head out, then you won’t have any trouble with stolen items. That’s it. I never locked up my laptop, and the only time someone had anything stolen from their room was when they left the door wide open.

Thanks^^

Stereotypical not in a bad way I hope…:)

Son is quite happy about Pardee, I think for freshman year its ok to be near the crowds so you can make friends plus all the GE classes will be nearby?

Someone please tell me how many food options are there besides EVK and Parkside. I hear there is Carls Jr and Red Mango. Is there Subway too? How far is the new Students Center from the quad.

Son is the ‘Zen’ type, minimalist - so for him what are the bare necessities we should bring. We are coming on int’l flight and will buy supplies there in LA.

Thank you !

i think rather than stereotypical, a better descriptor would be “quintessential”

Is Pardee air conditioned? My son is on the fifth floor. Do the windows open?
Thank you!

I don’t think there are a/c’s at Pardee!!! My son is on the 5th floor too!!

There is no air conditioning. The windows do open.

Does anyone live on the 1st floor or is it used as a common area?

There are rooms on the first floor, same number as on every other floor.

My son is also on the 5th floor of Pardee! Does anyone know if there is extra storage in the dorm for boxes, suitcases, etc.?
Also, I saw in the housing tour video on Youtube that the room comes with a minifrig and microwave. Is that true for all rooms in Pardee?

All rooms have one small refrigerator and a microwave. There’s not too much room in the dorm for boxes, unless you bunk the beds or raise them.

raise the bed and put all your junk under it. that’s what i did when i lived in the dorms and it worked well for me. was able to fit 2 large suitcases and 4 medium sized boxes.

My daughter lived in Pardee as a freshman and loved it, still friends with many dormmates. No A/C, it was very hot the first month she was there. She and her roommate had three fans going and they were on the side of the building facing the parking deck. Adequate storage for all her stuff. It impressed me how cleverly the kids utilize the limited space. Bed risers with plastic storage bins underneath are a godsend. Closet was quite large, could store suitcases at the top.

How can you find out which particular room number faces where?
