How is this upward grade trend?

Fall 2009 - 2.50
Spring 2010 - 2.50
Summer 2010 - 3.50
Fall 2010 - 3.68

My cumulative GPA to a 3.30. I know i messed up my first year, but I've been trying to get my head out of my ass.

I was able to TAG UCSB, UCSD, and UCR. All of my major pre-requisites and IGETC are completed. My major is Political Science. What are my chances for UCI and UCD? I also applied to UCLA...would they even consider my application? I know my GPA is low, but what if i had a really good personal statement?

IMO you’ll be granted admission into UCI and UCD (and all those schools you had a TAG with). I don’t think UCLA will consider you a competitive applicant though.

With a GPA that low, you could probably cure cancer and still not be granted admission into UCLA (I’m being sarcastic but you get the point). The only way you’ll be granted admission is if you did admission by exception (if you had an illness while in college or had a life changing event or something of that kind).

I’m not sure how true this is, but many people around here will tell you that a personal statement is of no value when deciding admissions.

UCs look at your freshman year grades, but don’t count them for your GPA. As for UCI and UCD, a 2100 SAT and 4.0 GPA are usually considered competitive. UCs weigh GPA & SAT more than ECs and essays usually. An upward trend is always good, but won’t make you.

Sorry to be so terse, but I’m on my iphone & the keyboard sucks. feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions

^LOL heyyy this is actually a transfer forum…

1x612nt13, you’re wrong. A competitive applicant must have over 4.0 GPA and over 2100 SAT,preferably close to 2400. Oh yea and some good EC’s too.

And yes, you’re in the wrong forum.
