I missed the deadline yesterday for the free score reports unfortunately. When I went in today to send them, it only lists my March SAT score date. I took the SAT on October 9th but the scores don’t post until October 28. If I send scores today, will my October scores get sent automatically when they are in, even though only my March date is listed?

A couple of things to consider:

Some schools that use score choice for admission require test scores from a single sitting for scholarships. You obviously would choose your highest. Make sure you clarify with the school.

If you request collegeboard to blindly choose your highest score from a single sitting this may not be to your advantage. If you score a 2060 in test #1 (680M, 650CR, 730W), and 2050 in test #2 (690M, 710CR, 650W) you may want to send test #2 if your target school doesn’t put much emphasis on the written, looking more at M&CR. The collegeboard would generate test #1 as the score to send.

ginman, if you went in today and paid for those reports, “Only score reports from completed and scored tests will be sent to the colleges and scholarship programs you select. Scores from future tests for which you registered, but have not yet completed, will not be included.” So you need to wait until Oct. score is released if you want to include it in your order.

blueiguana, good points. Note, the current interface requires the user to select which SAT sitting he/she wants to submit if exercising Score Choice. So there is no “default” whereby College Board will select that one that is highest composite. The only default selection College Board makes is if you do not move to the Score Choice screen–in that instance, it will send ALL scores.

^ TXArtemis - Thanks for the further clarification!!

Big correction: ginman’s question made me realize I did not correctly state one thing about Subject Tests!!!

If you are ordering score reports when you register for a test or during the “four free” time period, you have to order all subject test scores from that sitting. You will get one check box for that sitting–the scores of all tests taken during that sitting will be sent. If you think you did well on all, no problem. If you want to wait and see, then probably not good to place this “blind” order.

If you are ordering score reports after scores are released, then you MAY exercise Score Choice as to your subject tests even if taken during a single sitting. Each subject test will appear with its own check box, and you can check it or not!

Sorry for any confusion.

I need to send all scores to this one college. I was under the impression you only had to pay once to have all scores sent to one college if you’ve already taken the tests, even if the dates are different. So each score date you send costs $10 even if it’s to the same college? That stinks. I already took it two times so I should be able to send both score dates for $10 even if the score isn’t out for another week.

wait, TXArtemis, now i’m confused about what you said…so the October test hasn’t been officially scored yet (theoretically) but when I purchased my scores (to be sent in October and December…) they both said that they would send my October scores, which haven’t been scored yet. But from what you said, they won’t be including the October test then since it wasn’t scored when I paid for my scores to be sent…is my October test going to be sent or not?

I think this has become over-complicated…because of all the options College Board’s configuration presents!

ginman, to be clear, you can login to your CB account right now and order scores to be sent from both Oct. and Mar. for the same $10. Understand you are ordering Oct. scores “blind.” That is probably a good thing if you feel you did well AND have early app deadlines Nov. 1. If you don’t feel so confident and want to “wait and see” about Oct., then you wouldn’t want to order those scores until they are released. But even then, the same $10 will get you score reporting on Oct. (if you elect to send) and Mar. scores (and you’d have to make sure any “early” colleges would be okay with a score report ordered–promptly–after Oct. scores are released; otherwise, you might need to consider rush).

plaidskirt, I think you are good! But bear with me here… Test reporting is cumulative. If you order for Oct. test, it picks up Oct. and all before. If you order for Dec. test, it picks up Dec. and all before. I know you went in on the “last day” for the Oct. test and ordered score reports. Those reports will pick up Oct. and anything before Oct. That is VERY GOOD for your “early” app deadlines. All of those schools will receive all test scores through the Oct. test date. Re: your Dec. test, that is not timely for early schools anyway. It is for your regular decision schools. You need to go into your Dec. registration and use your four free choices to select OTHER, non-early schools to get your Dec. test scores + all the prior schools (cumulative reporting).

I know, I know, it doesn’t really need to be this confusing! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

THANK YOU TXArtemis. I think I’m good now. I’m going to stop looking at this thread before someone else’s post gets me confused again!

plaidskirt, I agree, forget about it, sounds like you are good to go!

In my haste, I typed a bad. Grrr. This is already confusing. Anyway, the last substantive sentence I typed above should correctly read: “You need to go into your Dec. registration and use your four free choices to select OTHER, non-early schools to get your Dec. test scores + all the prior tests CORRECTION: “tests” not “schools”.”

why can’t i choose Oct. test score when i order additional report? do i have to wait till the score comes out?

can the college receive my Oct. score before the deadline which is 11/1?

Yes, I have the same question as Charles. If I order score reports on Oct 28 how long will they take to be delivered to my school?

Once the “four free reports” period has expired, the College Board won’t allow you to order a report for the test you just took until the scores are released.

For the Oct. test, that’s Oct. 28.

For early app deadlines, you need to study your college websites carefully re: what test scores they accept for the Nov. 1 deadline and whether they offer any advice on using “rush” delivery. If the website is not clear, call the Admission office. As a general rule, they don’t expect students to spend money on rush transmission.

TXArtemis is right. Call the college Admissions Office to be sure, but they are not going to look at you early app on Nov. 1 and make a decision before midnight. Send them an email on October 28th informing them of the new score and let them know that the official report is inbound. no worries.

I took SAT exam on OCT 9 and I have send sat score report to college. So how long does it take my score to reach the college after the result is out on OCT23.

I also needed to send in my official scores to colleges by 11/01. Would I have to wait until scores release on the 28th or can I send it in now and it’ll include the october test scores?

I just confirmed with Collegeboard, and they said no October test scores can be sent to schools until it is released on the 28th I hope my scores make it in time! I needed it by 11/01, and all my schools receive test scores electronically, so hopefully it’ll make it in time…

UPDATE: Just checked today, and all of my scores arrived at my schools around on the 29th. Thank you all so much for your help (if it weren’t for you some of my schools wouldn’t have my reports by now…) and advice to not rush my scores–the extra money clearly wasn’t necessary!

College Board needs to do a much better job clarifying when scores are sent and how long it takes. I have spent hours on the CB website trying to figure this out, and still get conflicting reports of what we have sent.

In our case, we decided on 11/1 to apply Early Decision with an 11/15 deadline. I ordered all scores be sent on 11/2. Two weeks later the order was still “pending” and the college had not received it. Were they waiting for scores from the Nov. SAT not available until 11/23? Hope not.

When I found out that method of reporting can take four weeks, I ordered a score report (sent electronically) for $10 on 11/16. That sat there “pending” for a few days and on further checking found that method can take as long as 2 weeks!

Finally I spent another $39 for the rush service. All three reports (of the same thing) were sent on 11/19. The extra $49 spent to get it there one way or another was unneccessary. I still have to call the college to make sure they received them.

If we can get the scores online instantly, why can’t colleges? College Board, PLEASE clarify how you send scores. This forum is full of people who can’t figure out when you send them!

Question! I sent out my scores yesterday (December 21) but it obviously takes a day or two for my request to be processed by CB.

Will these scores arrive on time for Jan 1 deadline?

The schools I’m applying to (a few Ivies) all accept scores from January-does this change things? All of the schools accept score reports electronically. I know this for a fact.
