How many got in to USCD with a lower gpa then 3.8?

How many people here have gotten into UCSD witha lower gpa then 3.8? If so, what do you think might have been the reason why you got in?
-Low income?
-Amazing essay? (if so are you willing to share what you talked about?)
-Spectacular EC (can you list them)
-Amazing SAT? (what did you get? SAT1 and 2?)
-First generation college studentn?

Thank you
I ask this because UCSD is my dream school atm and my GPA is fairly low to all the peope I see and according to the average GPA taht got admitted.

By looking at the following website, 2,142 got in whose GPA is below 3.7. I am sure a lot of them are ELC, low income, first generation attending college, EC, etc. You can calculate your chances (kind of) by looking at the second link. The cut off is around 7,500. UCSD is my dream school, too. But I think I don't make the cut... oh, well.

Truthfully, UCSD's admission is not that hard. You're given a beakdown of the admission process, so use it to your advantage. State as many things on your application as possible that can get you points.

It's a lot easier than Cal/UCLA's admission process, where even if you are pass the cutoff, you may still get rejected.

some of those gpa's are from recruited athletes.

nevermind. :)

3.4 UCw GPA

I got in because:

-Did sports every year besides Senior year
-Officer of 6 clubs
-Founded/co-founded 3 clubs
-2280 SATs
-Passed 10/11 IB+AP exams

kenny forgets to add that his other talents include fitting in small places (like the cramped corner of a tent) and playing the hot dog song.

Hey confident this website http://www.universityofcalifornia.ed...chart_ucsd.pdf you posted. Is the GPA UC GPA? or Fully Weighted GPA?

It's UC GPA.

Oh. Ok Thanks.

hmmm.... thats an akward question to ask...
its sorta rude.... =/

I'm assuming I got in for a combination of these reasons

-essays were pretty good, I suppose

Which is question is awkward or rude to ask?

safe match

I would say match also, but I recommend you apply to some back-up schools. The schools youre applying to are pretty competetive. I'm sure some CSUs are still accepting apps.

But from your stats, I'd say you're in =).

But gotta have a plan B!
