How many of you believe in God?

I believe in miracles and lots of things but not christian God, at least not the way portrayed by people.

I always hate these God threads because it becomes a whole fight about proof and faith and evolution and creationism, it brings out a whole new mean, angry side of ccers. But I for one, do belive in God, as well as Jesus and the Holy Spirit, because I had an extraordinary bible study teacher who really showed me everything God has to offer. I don't blame God for every little problem, and I don't lose faith just because some of my prayers were not answered. I belive that God will answer everything in His own time and the way He wants, after all, He is the big one, not me. Sometimes I question my faith, especially now that my darling bible teacher is dying very slowly. Other times I feel like praising God because life is so great. In my opinion, there is no reason to "prove" to other people that there is a God. I think that as long as I give them the information about the Bible and the Gospel, people will take their own time to find their inner light.

^ yay :) :) :)

I had a great teacher too, very brilliant, and living proof that intellectuality can exist with faith.

I don't believe that because people are Christians they are weak. But in my experience, and maybe it is just because i'm in the bible belt, people who are Christians feel that it is perfectly acceptable to try and convert a person, because their philosophy is so superior that it leaves no room for dissent. Also, a lot of political standpoints are associated with christianity, although to blanket all christians is of course a steriotype. I think it is great that people can practice, or not, any religion. I do have a problem with people citing the bible when they say that gay people are comminting a sin and they shoulldn't get married, or that abortion should be illegal to name the most popular two.
Also, I am an athiest, but for me that doesn't mean that when I die, that is the end. It simply means that this is a possiblity, and I don't understand some of the horror shown when death is considered as the ultimate end. And although I don't believe in God, I doesn't mean I am not a moral person.

I don't know what I think anymore. I've just been taking some time to think things over and decide for myself what I believe.

it brings out a whole new mean, angry side of ccers.

as opposed to the nice, gentle side when talking about rankings? :)

or gay marriage?

or smoking or vegetarianism.

or abortion?

Oh there was an ugly one on that awhile back in the cafe.

These things are impossible to debate. No one will ever ever win or convince anyone of anything else. Its so pointless and only causes to offend.

Thats because atheists usually lack common sense and they're stubborn.

The same thing can be said against religious ones as well. Most people are stubborn and lack what is deemed common sense.

There is no god.

Yup, I believe ya ;)

This argument will seriously go nowhere. Its so pointless.

Pointless, hmmmmm? A subject that man has been pondering since the begining of time? Undoubtedly there is no answer that will be accepted by all or scientifically verifiable, but pointless? I beg to differ.

I don't mean the argument in general is pointless. This one being conducted at the moment is. Its getting nowhere and accomplishing absolutely nothing.

These things are impossible to debate. No one will ever ever win or convince anyone of anything else. Its so pointless and only causes to offend.

Now this I don't care about. People need to stop thinking they have the right not to be offended about what someone else says. You dont, so get over it! Also, saying that you should not debate and argue things because you won't change someone else's mind is the most pathetic excuse I've ever heard. People are fools who are not swayed by logical argument. Now, I agree that on some of these topics, it is more difficult to get to the philosophical meat of the matter, but still...

^^ i agree

crap, you guys beat me to the point of my post - oh well
