How many people do they waitlist?

does this one-page supplement really help? Do they actually recommend this on their website? I’m just curious… Columbia seemed to be all about ‘as little as possible’.

lol telling acceptees not to go to columbia is petty… (i hope it was a joke)

well if the acceptees at columbia are stupid enough to to make their decisions on what one person tells them about it they don’t deserve to go there in the 1st place.

@cjh901228: Dude, we’re just kidding about telling them not to go. At least I was.
I’m pretty sure, since the # accepted went down from last year, and people seeing cross-admits amongst Ivies, that they will take a handful or maybe more from the waitlist.
If not, all the Ivy rejects and waitlists can team up and create their own college(See movie: Accepted). We’ll have the super-genius asian kids who were rejected from the Ivies b/c of…you know.

I LOVE THIS IDEA
to be honest, that school would perform better academically than a lot of the ivies  because we’d admit on academic merit and brilliance alone. haha mandatory iq test! ;)

Oh no! O_O Haha

I think thats one of the best ideas I’ve heard on the message boards in a long time lol IM IN!!!

I don’t know any this year :S

Do you guys think it is easier to get off a waitlist from Columbia College or Fu?

Kinda randomm, but then there are only like 500something Fu students as compared to 1100 CC students. They would waitlist according to that, right?

How do you think it goes?

Blehhhh no one from my school got into Columbia this year, and it was my first choice school. So now I’m on the poopy waitlist :frowning: I really really really really really times a million hope they first of all use the waitlist this year and second of all take ME off the waitlist lol.

Hypothetically, let’s just say I possibly found a new diagnosis tool for schizophrenia detection and got published in the past month in a peer reviewed scientific journal. I know I know, it sounds crazy. Would that increase my chance to be taken off? Or since the Columbia list is so short, is it not really even worth it?

For reference. Straight As. 5 APs all fives, so far. 800 Math, 800 Reading, 780 writing, 800 Chemistry subject, 780 level II math, and 760 Lit subject tests. NMS finalist. Lots of ECs.

I wonder what it took to get accepted straight up. I heard that they had over 30,000 apps. That most kids applied to 12-20 schools.

Wait listed Penn, Chicago, Emory and Columbia. I wonder how long the wait list is.

Accepted at UC Berkeley Chemistry, JHU, Vandy, UCLA-- merit $$$ at UCSB, USC, UF, Miami.

California here we come.

Not sure this process makes sense. Glad we did not focus on only a few. Phew.

^This is exactly why I think we may see a lot of waitlist acceptances this year. Competition has increased significantly, so we all applied to more schools in order to increase our chances. This most likely, at least from what I’ve seen so far, caused a lot of cross-admits, which will decrease yield everywhere, including Columbia. Not to mention the fact that no one got in off the waitlist last year, so they probably were careful not to over-enroll.

I don’t know if I still believe that NO ONE was accepted off the wait-list. Where is everyone getting this fromm?

^ I couldn’t find it anywhere.

It was true for Cornell last year, though.

<a href=“Columbia OPIR”>Columbia OPIR;

looking at differences, CC took 123 people off and seas took 26 off, this was the year that H and P went off early so numbers were uncertain

there’s a slight discrepancy in the Columbia College numbers, but I clearly remember reading that they took noone, either way looking at the differences, seas took noone and CC effectively took noone.
