How much does an art supplement help with chances?

I'm a pretty dedicated piano player, and I was considering submitting an arts supplement to a few of the colleges I'm applying to. I'm not majoring in music, so would the art supp make a significant difference?

Bump .

I would certainly benefit from a response or two to this post…

Definitely! Schools have a holistic approach to admissions, and most students apply undecided anyway, so you can of course have EC’s that are unrelated to your academic interests.

kaivermor — This is an old post. If you have a similar question best is if you post it as new thread. I find it quite confusing to reply to threads that have effectively expired and which are no longer relevant to the original poster.

Kaivermor, my son is waiting for a decision from the school to which he submitted an arts supplement, so I can’t give you a definitive answer. However, he does know that his recording was reviewed by this school’s voice faculty and he was told that they gave him an “outstanding” applicant rating. Schools want to see depth and accomplisment in an extracurricular. Bottom line, it can’t hurt. It could be the one factor that tips the scale in your favor.
