Hi,
I’m a highschool senior applying for SCAD next fall semester and in need of scholarship, so I want to ask for my chance of a merit scholarship from SCAD. I tried their net calculator and it said that my range is from 8,500 to 11,000, but this is a wide range and even $1000 could mean a lot to me.
I have an SAT of 1370/1600
I studied in Vietnam during 9th,10th and 11th grade so I don’t really have a 4.0 GPA, but according to some documentation I read online, a 8.0 is considered an A in America and all 3 years my performance was about 8.5
I have a 4.0 GPA for first quarter in senior year in US
Also, I won english and literature competitions in Vietnam, participated in a fair amount of volunteer projects
Can I get a scholarship of about 10,000 for these academic achievements?
Thank you for making time for this post! I’m grateful for all replies
My daughter has a 32 act 33 superscore and just got 10,500 scholarship.
@lisaol, that is about what my son got. He got $10k total for merit. He never took the ACT or SAT, but started at community college and has a high GPA.
@nadai25, all you can do is apply and hope for the best. Also, get a strong portfolio together. My son got about half of the max amount for the portfolio because we did it all quickly and he didn’t get the chance to diversify his work and meet with someone to critique first. I think it hurt him. His portfolio is a lot of the same type of work. It is good, but he could have done better. Get some teachers to critique your work or go to a Portfolio day and get some feedback. I wish we had done that, but we were crunched for time.
@CalGal17 how much can you get for a portfolio?
