So i still need to take Econ, UGBA, and Stats... and also the 7 breadth requirements by the end of my sophmore year. I'm trying to do one of those MCB-Haas dealies. I will only be able to take one new class in the spring (replacing philo6) and I am not sure if UGBA or any of the main classes are offered in spring. Anywho, do you have any suggestions/what did you do to fulfill your requirements?

With the new Hass requirements setup, almost all your courses will have to be a prerequisite or breadth. Since Haas has 14 classes you need (4 prereqs, 7 breadth, 2 R&C, 1 lit/writing req), make sure to take whatever courses that match with MCB so that you can do 2 things at once. As for the main Haas classes you need (UGBA, Math, Econ, Stats), they are always taught every semester, but the teachers/times/days will change and may (but unlikely) overlap one another, so make sure not to leave too many prereqs at the end of the sophomore year and risk possibly not being able to take one.

you could always wait an extra year to apply. or have they changed that too? it's pretty uncommon to find people who wait till their junior year, but it does happen.

I honestly don't think it's possible anymore. Since MCB requires

Math 1A, 1B, Calculus
Chemistry 1A, General Chemistry*
Chemistry 3A/3AL, 3B/3BL, Organic Chemistry*
Biology 1A /1AL, 1B, General Biology
Physics 8A, 8B, Introduction to Physics (calculus based)

And the combination of all of that only satisfies the biological and physical science breadth requirement. We still need 5 breadth requirements, the lit requirement (on top of the R1A, R1B), Econ, UGBA, and Stats. Even if we did summer school, and are going to do it again after freshman year. We can't possibly get all the requirements in.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but, the math of MCB and Haas is closed to us now.

Physics 8A/8B do not need to be completed prior to declaration of major.

For simultaneous degrees, you must finish in 2 years or you will be dropped from both majors. Haas is really strict about that.

MCB prereqs and Haas prereqs both require a lot of time commitment. You'll be hurting your grades doing both. I recommend Public Health to anyone who is considering Premed/Haas because it is much easier to fulfill requirements. i.e., polisci 2 (social science course for public health) fulfills intl studies, any of the social science courses for public health fulfills social & behavioral science.

it's very difficult to do both. my advice is volunteer at a clinic/shadow a doctor and see how you like med and then do something similar for business and see what you like.

the other option is doing haas and taking the prereqs for med school. you can space them out through your 4 years:
Freshman: chem 1a & chem 3a
sophomore: chem 3b & bio 1a
junior: bio 1b & mcb 102
physics 8a & 8b somehwere in there and you'll be fine for med school.

apparently med schools like diverse majors more than just bio majors. you may not have it on your degree, but you still have a shot at both business and medical careers.

I like the way you think Cheeks; the reason I am trying to do MCB along with applying to Haas is to have Mcb as a back up major. Yet if I got into Haas then I could just stick to Haas and have the premed preqs taken care of. But of course Haas isn't guaranteed so i need to make sure i have the prereqs for mcb done before the end of sophmore year. It would be a lot nicer to go by your schedule though and have my prereqs finished by the end of my junior year... hmmm who knows maybe i can try econ?!

It really does seem like that^
The whole 7 breadth thing completed by the end of sophmore year complicates things, due to my uneasiness in the ablity to apply to Haas, I want to craft a schedule allowing me to shift away from Haas if it proves to be impossible

Math 1a
Chem 1a
Rhetoric R1a
Philo6
ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES 128AC

this is a whopping 20 units, not a healthy diet for a freshman, but I would plan to come in with a "shop and drop mentality"
talking to a haas advisor would help too
