How prestigious is Babson? Would I fit in? and a few other miscellaneous questions

I know that the post-graduation salaries here are really high, but its not even ranked in US News. why is that?

How well known is it in Massachusetts/Boston?

could you compare this school to boston/northeastern in terms of job prospects and prestige?

Is the workload really that bad?

How is the hockey spirit around here?

I am a girl and know for sure that I would like to enter the business world (not sure specifically what area in business yet) and I am very passionate about it, even though I don’t really have many ECs in the business area. I sold my own used clothes on ebay and made like 2.5k from it in a month lol. I also speak chinese (up to 4 currently), and want to speak fluently so I can go international, in terms of business. I absolutely love the concept of a college that is just centered around business. however, I do want a social life and am interested in sports, since I am a very competitive figure skater. I am interested in going to parties and typical college student stuff like that, but to a certain extent. I am not the kind of person who wants to go to parties every other day or drink excessively or hook up. Also, people tell me that I am a city gal, but thats not too big of a factor in what college I go to (If I go into business, I am pretty sure I will wind up living in a big city anyways, so I think I can survive not living in an urban city for 4 years). Is this the right place for me? I won’t have time to visit, but is it worth it for me to apply here?

Babson has a very solid business reputation, particularly in the northeast. BU and Northeastern would be peers, and some businesses will see Babson as much higher than those two. Beyond the Northeast, it still carries some weight, but not as much. Still, a plenty fine reputation nationally.

While it’s close to Boston, you are not going to get the city experience. If you value that, BU/Northeastern and other city schools may be better options. While you could survive, you should decide if the difference is worth it. There’s no need to deprive a desire if good options are available elsewhere.

Babson does have a large startup and entrepreneurship culture - everyone has their business they are trying to get to take off. I visited a friend there once and ended up with merch for 3 different brands. That may help paint a bit of a picture of the culture. Parties seemed to be present but not dominating, so that should fit your criteria.

It’s not ranked on US News due to categorization, not quality. I wouldn’t be concerned there.

I would highly encourage applying, and then weighing your options after decisions.
