How soon will we hear about admission decision?

How about Southern California?

My admissions counselor is Kasey Bruns. I’m not sure if she’s new or not but either way she was very helpful. I am from the southwest (Arizona) and it doesn’t seem like too many people from this area apply to Tulane… at least not anyone on here.

Kasey is not new. I am not sure how many Tulane typically gets from AZ, but CA is very well represented.

Hello CC folks. Have been lurking here for a long time and am so very appreciative of everyone’s generosity during this process. Especially when Gibson went dark, it was a comfort to know it wasn’t just my DD’s account. Anyway…this is for Mavitale. My DD’s admissions rep is also Hannah U. She is fabulous–readily available via email and approachable and knowledgeable in real life! DD got acceptance to Tulane on Sunday. She is THRILLED, to say the least. She submitted her application in late Sept and GC got her stuff in by Oct 5 or so. Didn’t show as complete on Gibson for a bit though. Hope that helps. I can’t recall if you said when your DS got his stuff in, but perhaps my DD lucked out with timing. DD was really sick and couldn’t attend the Tulane Comes to You in our area and Hannah was reassuring about that.

We are from South Jersey and SO feel your pain in regards to Sandy and the snow. Its a mess here.

I was just wondering if anyone from the class of 2013 from Southern California has received an admission letter yet?

Thanks so much, mofthree! I’ve encouraged my son to send Hannah another note just to touch base but he is very reluctant to do that, thinking it seems ‘desperate’.

I’ve thought about writing to her but since this is my first time going through this process, I also don’t want to overstep. We were scheduled to go visit on November 12th but cannot do that now, so I thought I might just send her a note about that.

His app was marked complete on Gibson on October 22nd, so it’s probably too soon to be concerned…

Rydert, we are in the Northeast (Westchester County, NY) and Hannah is our rep, so I think it’s broken up a bit.

The “Meet the Counselors” area on the tulane.edu site shows them all, has their bios and their territories.

I sent an email to my admissions rep (Laura Meagher) three days ago and have yet to hear back. A friend of mine emailed her over a week ago and hasn’t heard back either. Is this to be expected because of the massive volume of emails she receives? Or should we be concerned? Thanks!

mavitale - Frankly as a parent I wouldn’t write to his admissions person. I know it is hard when just waiting, but it sends the wrong message. And you are right, the NYC metro area is broken up. I know Erica Salm Rench has the city itself, or at least part of it.

It is too soon to be concerned. Remember everyone, Tulane only promises Dec. 15 for EA apps. Anything sooner is wonderful of course, but things can change along the way. The number of apps can spike unexpectedly, and/or the quality of apps might be increasing enough to make decisions harder. I don’t know, but try not to read anything into what are in reality very small waits.

There is nothing wrong with making sure an app is complete, that is prudent because otherwise they won’t even evaluate the app. But once it is, unless there is some news that materially changes the resume, it is best to be patient.

For the people that have not heard back from Laura Meagher, give it the weekend. I have noticed some people at Tulane take care of more pressing business during the week, and answer lower priority e-mails during the weekend. I know it doesn’t seem lower priority to you, but truly nothing is going to change for these issues over a few days. If you don’t hear back by Monday, then write again emphasizing that you are not sure she is getting your e-mails since you didn’t get any acknowledgement. If that still fails after a few days, write to the head of admissions and ask if there is a problem with Laura’s email account, because several of you are not getting any responses. That isn’t making waves, that is being prudent. It is possible there really is a problem and she isn’t getting them.

I agree with Fallenchemist (and thank you for all you do on this site FC–you rep for your AM amazingly). If necessary have your son communicate with Hannah for any questions or concerns. Its always best when the applicant drives the boat. And be patient. DD logged in to Gibson pretty frequently after we heard decisions were rolling out, and then she was forced to step away from the madness since we had no power/internet/cell service, etc for a bit. And then BAM! There it was! Best of luck to your son, and those still awaiting a decision. We are anxiously watching the mail for her letter. Won’t feel like its legit until that comes.

I agree mofthree, there is something about a paper letter that is much more satisfying than an electronic notification. Even a printout of the screen is not the same. Hope you get the good news soon.

Letter came. Daughter napping. ARGHHHHH…

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WAKE HER UP!!! (you owe it to US!! )

Isn’t this when Lucy would “accidentally” drop a bunch of pots and pans in the kitchen?

Call her on her cell. Kids who are dead asleep still seem to awaken to the ring of their cellphone

I agree with Vitrac! Good luck!

^^^
wake up sleepyhead!

mofthree: PM me her cell number. I will call, then say “wrong number.” Inquiring minds need to know!

As I was planning our trip to Tulane, I called and left a message in admissions to ask about what’s going on on campus the day we will be there since we have a few hours there. I just got a call from a Green Wave Ambassador (student) who said they can arrange for DS (and me, if I want) to have lunch with a student who has the same interests as him or is from the same area as we are. Very cool. I think we will do that! Want to share this for anyone else who is heading down to Tulane and wants to take advantage of every opportunity!

My d turns off the cell when napping. Call the home phone from your own cell and let it ring a few hundred times.

Ok, it’s been two hours. That’s a long enough nap. Time to rise and shine!

Now 2 hours and ten minutes…wake up, wake up. Inquiring CCers want to know what the envelope says.
