dukeafficionado- Fallenchemist would be able to give you a better answer but ill take a stab at it, as im an applicant myself.
I would say your GPA is really great but you SAT is on the lower end of the middle 50 for Tulane. ASSUMING your essays and recs are really good i think you have a good shot to get in and possibly get some money, but again not a pro here. Im sure Fallen will comment soon for you.

duke - I think so. 3.8 UW is pretty strong, and since you have a 4.1 weighted I am assuming that reflects a fair number of AP and honors courses. 1980 is around the Tulane median, maybe just a tad below but very close. So hard to predict, but I think you are likely to get something. Wouldn’t want to predict the amount though.

Have you either visited campus or attended a local session?

Just looked on Gibson and saw the amazing Congratulation message!! Well worth the wait!
Stats:
ACT: 30
GPA: 3.85 unweighted, 4.4 weighted
From Colorado

Thanks I really appreciate the input.
fallenchemist - I have not done either of those things, will that decrease my chances?

Congrats elizabeth314! Did your status go blank before it said Congrats? Hoping I get same message tonight!

Callie where are you from? My application just switched from complete to incomplete. Is that what you are talking about? So weird that there are so many problems with Gibson.

I’m from Maryland, but I don’t think the same thing is happening to us. I’ve had the complete to incomplete thing happen to me a few times, but this is different. My status says Undergraduate Admissions (Fall 2013) and then the space where the incomplete or complete message is usually there is completely blank. It happened once before for everyone, but this time it’s just me. A few people have posted that their statuses have gone blank before their decisions have been posted, so I’m hoping that’s what this is.

Calie101 my status only went from Complete to Congrats. However, in October it was constantly changing between complete and incomplete.

Calie101 - My status last week never once changed from Complete to incomplete, I would check like once an hour… Anyways, it did change to incomplete multiple times in October.

Congrats Elizabeth!!!

Congrats Elizabeth!

My status went from incomplete with items listed, to incomplete with no items listed, to complete, to blank, back to complete, and then finally congratulations.

And in response to earlier talk about the why tulane essay… Mine was just over 500 words.

how long does it take for a decision once the status changes to complete?

Right now there’s an error message on Gibson… not sure what’s going on but maybe another update is coming.

so far mines went from incomplete with items to incomplete then to complete now back to incomplete with no items. I only submited last tuesday or so not expecting a decision quite yet but you never know.
mavitale- I am not getting an error on Gibson unless you mean that my Gibson went to incomplete .

Elizabeth, Congratulations! I know you have been waiting for awhile. Very exciting!

It might. Showing strong interest in Tulane is important. It is important to all schools that are similar to Tulane (midsize, private), but since Tulane gets so many apps it is one of the ways of seeing who really wants to go. Is Tulane really a school you are interested in, say maybe top 3 or so?

Thats a shame. Tulane is definitely in my top 3.

Duke…i think that you will be okay. my son’s SAT was 2030 (1330CR/M), 4.25 GPA/W. He was accepted with merit $$. We did show designated interest -(visited Tulane last April, met with Rachel Kohn (admissions counselor) and exchanged several emails with her.) so that may have helped. But your grades alone should get you in. Did you write the Why Tulane essay? You can show strong interest in an essay, not everyone has the opportunity to visit. Don’t be discouraged, and keep us posted.

Also, congratulations Elizabeth!

Duke - it isn’t too late. Email a “Why Tulane” statement to your admissions officer. Just do it by end of the day Thursday.

(X-posted with jozuko). In the past, the Why Tulane has made a real difference, stats notwithstanding. Of course, it needs to be good, not just a cliche of “New Orleans is so great” or “Tulane is such a wonderful school”. It should show you have thought about why it really fits you, which means having done at least some research on the school.

application back to complete…this is crazy!!! any comments on this???
