How soon will we hear about admission decision?

That’s weird… if they said you were accepted, regardless of what Gibson says, you should have gotten a letter by now. It seems that the letters take about a week after online acceptance to show up and the longest I’ve seen so far on here is 2 weeks. You could try calling again to confirm that a letter was sent out.

They will resend the letter if you have not gotten it by now. Just tell them again it has not arrived, confirm the correct address, and ask them to resend it. Out of 9,000+ acceptance notifications, some are going to get misdelivered. I am sure we all get our neighbors mail sometimes, and some neighbors are better than others at making sure to get it to you. Or it may have been delivered somewhere wildly incorrect, and who knows what happens at that point. Some people will just make no effort to do the right thing, and throw it in the trash instead.

I hear it is a very nice envelope. I would hate to see it thrown away like that!

Same thing with us meerkat . Gibson has had many issues. No mail today bc veterans day but if we don’t get it tomorrow will call. I am glad my child took a picture of acceptance!!! We did call and tell them about Gibson going from accepted to blank to incomplete to application complete and being reviewed and it has not been fixed. Anyone else have issue with Gibson?

From what I can tell, almost everyone is having these same issues with Gibson. It could be they are hesitant to try and do any major fix until the admit season is over, but who knows. It would be great if they could get it fixed now, but in the end at least none of the acceptance messages seem to be in error. There have been a few famous cases of universities having to tell people that got acceptance letters, e-mails, and/or computer notifications such as Gibson that it was in error and they were not accepted after all. Now that would be mortifying.

That would be mortifying. My status hasn’t changed since I got the congratulations message 1 week ago today. I am hoping for a letter in the next couple of days. Hopefully at least by the end of the week!

That would be awful! Is there a typical time of day that admissions decisions are posted online?

Not that I am aware, although now that you mention it, it seems to happen in the afternoons. I cannot remember a time when people seemed to notice a change in the morning. But that is totally relying on scattered, anecdotal data plus my (ever failing) memory. So not sure how much you can rely on that assessment.

My why Tulane essay is 333 words long. Is that too much or too little?

Is anyone else’s Gibson status blank?

Flyboy2tf- Mine is 277 words. In my opinion I think that a short concise statement that shows that you are interested and says what you like about the school and why you want to go there is perfect. I think 333 would be great, but that just my opinion.

callie101- no, mine says “Your application is complete. The Committee on Admission is working to render your decision as quickly as possible.”

I seem to recall some people’s status going blank before they were accepted. Can anyone corroborate?

Thanks Wuhandrummer.
I have a 29 ACT with 3.77 UW. I have completed/am completing 9 AP classes. I am also captain of the varsity swim team and have participated in a medical mission trip to Guatemala for four consecutive years where i have been able to observe and scrub in on surgeries.
Do I have a good chance of getting in?

Flyboy - not sure if you were specifically asking Wuhandrummer for his opinion or were asking in general.

I think you have a very good chance, assuming your essays are good. Same with recs, whatever else we cannot see. I assume you have either visited Tulane or went to a local event? But in any case, a 29 ACT is the lower end of Tulane’s 25-75% range, which means 25% of the people attending got a lower score than that, and your 3.77 UW GPA with 9 AP’s is outstanding. Add that to being a varsity swimmer and the mission trip, and your app seems solid.

Flyboy, I think that you will get in but I would send in the Why Tulane essay asap. I think that the # of words is fine. My DS’s essay was 500 words. He had similar stats to you, got in and was awarded $20K/year merit scholarship. Just make sure that your essay is well written and sincere and send it in now! Good luck…

I was just asking the general populous. Thanks fallen chemist. Also, I submitted my why Tulane essay to my admin counselor. And yes, I visited two weekends ago.

Thank you Jozuko. I am very eager to hear back from gibson.

Im no expert but from what i have been seeing and learning i would agree with fallen and juzuko.

Also, just went a checked Gibson for fun, i already did an hour ago and it was complete, and now according to Gibson my application is incomplete but with no documents under that. But last week when i emailed my officer, Erica Sam Rench, she told me my application was complete so not worried. Maybe that means they are updating it to my decision!!!

I have applied EA to Tulane with a 1980 SAT (1340 M/CR), and a 4.1 weighted gpa (3.8 uw). I am the leader of my choir and the varsity wrestling team.
I was wondering whether I will be likely to get any merit scholarship money?
