How soon will we hear about admission decision?

Wuhandrummer - she was accepted on Gibson on Fri 11/09 and received the letter 1 week later on 11/16. Good luck to you and keep me posted.

Has anyone heard from Virginia?

I posted my stats a few days ago when I found out I was accepted on Gibson. I just received my paper letter in the mail, and I was offered the $27,000 Presidential Scholarship (annual) as well as admittance into the Honors program!!! I could not be more excited!! Good luck to everyone else and congrats to those who have been admitted :)

Wow! That’s great Mary. Well done.

Woohooo Mary!!! Nice.

Yay Mary … Way to go!

It took me about 2 weeks to get my acceptance letter in the mail from the day I got in. I’m in NJ so Hurricane Sandy probably had something to do with that delay. I got into the Honors program and a Presidential scholarship…27k a year…wow.

Wonderful Jgli95. Can you share your stats?

JG, Congratulations! That’s awesome.

I was wondering if anyone was around today.

is merit aid ever put online?

Eventually it will show up on your financial aid tab. But not before you get the letter. I don’t think they make those tabs active for applicants until later, maybe after you decide to enroll. Not sure about that last part, they may be active when they start making need-based aid decisions.

Fallenchemist, what airline/airport does your daughter use to get back and forth? How early do you book the flights? It looks like Jetblue only has one direct, non-stop flight daily each way between BOS and NOLA and it’s pricey. I had a bit of sticker shock looking into flights to NOLA. Any info/recommendations will be helpful and appreciated.

I have found this website helpful for NOLA flights [Cheap Flights - Compare Airline Tickets with Skyscanner.com](http://www.skyscanner.com/)

Agree with Vitrac for the general info, but since you asked specifically she has flown Southwest. I flew them all the time so I had a lot of free flights, therefore that really doesn’t pertain to your situation. But you can get fairly decent fares with advance planning, and the one stop and plane change through (usually) Baltimore, Chicago or Orlando hasn’t been a big deal.

Thanks Vitrac and FC. I will sign up to get the fare alerts for JetBlue and Southwest and will keep an eye on sales and promotions…

Congrats to all accepted! Been offline a while.
Family is heading out to the Poboy Fest (locals). Will have a few bites and beers for all.

Hi and congrats to everyone who has been accepted!! I have been following this thread for a while now, but never joined the conversation. I am starting to get a little concerned about my application–I applied early Sept. but had problems with Tulane misplacing some documents so after many conversations with admissions via phone and email, my app was finally marked complete on 11/5. That will be two weeks tomorrow, and I have still not heard anything. I have pretty decent stats (1980 SAT, 3.5uw/3.7w gpa). I have taken 4 APs and a few other honors and have a strong upward trend (3.3, 3.7, 3.8 and first quarter this year a 4.1!) I have visited tulane twice and wrote a good why tulane essay. I play sports and participate in a few clubs. I have done a ton of community service including two trips to NOLA to rebuild houses. Tulane is one of my first choice schools and I am getting very anxious that I have not heard anything yet! Do you think sending my first quarter grades from this year would help?

I think it will at least help jog your app to the decision pile, if nothing else. It’s a good non-intrusive way of “touching base”.

renul11, you have similar stats to my D (but you have more APs). She also has similar ECs and community service. Her application was complete early Oct and she has not heard yet either. We are thinking that the students who have heard at this point are those that are a easy decision and probably will get merit aid. You and my D probably fall into the much larger category of students whose applications need more consideration. If your first quarter grades show continued upward trend, sending them can only help. Good luck.

You could certainly be right, pushydad, but I have to say that those stats plus strong interest and decent community service would have almost certainly gotten a fairly quick yes from Tulane in the past. It makes me wonder if Tulane is really seeing that much stronger of an application pool that is also showing strong interest, not just using Tulane strictly as a “safety”. The somewhat tighter scholarship awards some have seen so far would support that theory, although there are at least a couple of alternative explanations I can think of. I guess we will see, but there is no question that it at least appears Tulane is moving the line a little. Good for the school, nerve-wracking for more applicants. Just goes to show what a dynamic process this is.
