How soon will we hear about admission decision?

Still waiting:(

Oliver17, good luck! Thanks for the message. I would reply but I haven’t posted enough responses to be able send a message back to you! We are still waiting…

Hey guys don’t worry if your still waiting!
I applied in August (yes, over the Summer) and I just heard back yesterday! Most other people who applied in August heard in October. I for sure thought I was going to get rejected on Dec 15. Don’t think too much if your application is pending until December.

Also, my status went blank before they posted the acceptance. Watch out for that blank status - and check back.

Anyone know how long it takes to get the official letter once “Congratulations” shows up on your status page?

Varies a lot, but on average a week.

Sn0flake- I’m still waiting for my official letter. It’s been about 9 days

Thanks. DS’s acceptance showed up on Thanksgiving Day so I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes a little longer for his to arrive since, I assume, they were closed Thursday and Friday. Hopefully it will come in the mail by next Monday.

DD got in on a Tuesday and the letter came three days later on Friday. We live in the Boston area.

I like how Maryland releases their decisions. Still apply early action but instead of this painful drawn out wait, hearing every day for weeks that another person has been accepted, they release all their decisions on the same day. Seems much less stressful. Down side is you definitely end up waiting longer to hear, but for us, since we still havent heard anything, would be A LOT less painful than this process…

Congratulations Hugoblack!

My gibson account went blank this morning at around 10am (just saying Undergraduate Admissions 2013 Fall) and still nothing there! This is driving me crazy! I agree jaynebe, it would be much less stressful to release decisions all at once.

Thanks exlawyermom! We heard in the same round of acceptances.

@renul11 - Keep checking back! It seems like once it goes blank the computer is changing your status. That is what happened to me, at least.

I agree Tulane’s way of decisions is a bit odd. I do prefer hearing on one dedicated day, and this system makes it seem you will hear any day - acceptance, rejection or deferral.

I like the rolling better for all the marketing reasons I talked about earlier, but what I think could make that work better as far as stress and all (although this is stressful for most no matter what) would be to try and do them within a certain time frame of receipt. Although as I type that I remember that even though the app may be in early, the high school may be slow to get the info to Tulane and so they are stuck. Hmmmm. Well, usually this seems to have worked better in the past, or at least I don’t recall quite as much tension before. Probably there was, just my memory most likely. I certainly do recall suggesting a lot of deep breathing exercises last year.

Is the merit award, if any, ever listed on Gibson before the paper letter?

I think last year it was later in the process when they started posting them to the financial aid tab, sometime into the RD part of the cycle. If that is true, it was almost for sure the first time because in prior years it was never posted to an account until you actually enrolled at Tulane. I am not 100% sure about last year because I had no way of seeing for myself, since I did not have a child in that process last year. But from what I could gather from scattered reports on here, I think they started showing up after the winter break sometime.

I can confirm for you that under the financial aid tab and in the “summary of current status” section this is the error message I receive.

"This page is not enabled for current user role(s).

bwrksumm.P_DispSumm"

So the answer is no it is not yet in the financial aid section.

Has anyone from South Carolina received an admission decision?.. I’m not one to stress but I’m definitely beginning to :frowning: . Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted!!!

I hope I’m not missing something here, but how have so many people received their admission decisions already? Did people apply really early or something? I’m panicking a little.

Mosicles:
Most of the people have applied EA of SCEA which was due by 11/15 and later moved to 11/26. Since Tulane admits on a rolling basis for EA, many early applicants have already heard admissions decisions because they submitted early in the process or for other undetermined reasons. However EA decisions are not guaranteed until 12/15. If you applied after 11/26, you will be placed in the RD pool and decisions will come later. Don’t panic.

Thanks! I feel better now
I submitted my application Nov. 1st so hopefully I’ll hear from them soon. I had no idea it was rolling admissions for EA. Fingers crossed!!
