How soon will we hear about admission decision?

I got my paper letter today - $27,000 Presidential Scholarship and invitation to the Honors College. I’m really happy about this - my parents said they would pay up to $15,000 per year in tuition for me and FAFSA won’t help us, so this gives me an options where my loans will be much more manageable. :)

cruxclaire - Did you see my PM? You have a real shot at full tuition I think. I sent it a while back, maybe 10 days?

Congrats on the Presidential and the Honors Program, although I had no doubt about those once I saw your stats.

Daughter accepted today ! She is thrilled . First choice. Ironically we were half way to Boston to look at back up plan schools

cruxclaire: That is AWESOME. Congratulations!

madre - Great news! Beats waiting until after 11/15, doesn’t it? It really is wonderful to see the joy in their faces when they see the decision.

My application is marked as complete finally. Now I will continue waiting for a decision…

Admission application was submitted online to Tulane one month ago. School counselor has yet to submit her materials. How did everyone else get their schools to submit transcripts/reports so quickly?

Most of the time the student doesn’t have to do anything, the counselor does their job quickly and with efficiency. If your counselor is being that slow, I would let him/her know they are jeopardizing your application with Tulane and to please get the materials in right away. If they still do not respond, see if your parents or the principal can get something moving. There is no excuse for them to be an obstacle for your admission.

Cruxclaire. I am so happy for you! With your stats , you deserve it.

Congrats LIMOM and everyone else!!

I agree with FC. My counselor is pretty good about getting things done on time but I made sure to remind her a few times and check to see if she had done it. If they are that slow I would try to talk to the principal or someone that would help get things done. A friend of mine, who got me interested in Tulane in the first place, hasn’t completed her application yet either because of the same issue. It’s not fair for them to be slowing you down. Good luck getting everything settled.

I was pretty assertive with my DS’ GC back in September. DS submitted early and I told GC that it was critical she send his info out ASAP so we could hear quickly re: a decision and possible merit aid. I emailed her and touched base during open school night, plus DS met with her. She was great and got his materials out quickly for his EA apps, including Tulane. You just can’t wait till they are ready. It makes a difference, so speak up!

(Since this is my second kid graduating from this HS with the same GC, she knew that DS, like his older sister, would be doing apps early. So she wasn’t surprised. She’ll have plenty of last-minute-Nellie’s, but we will be all done by then!)

I don’t mean to be off topic but was does DS mean? I see it a lot but I could never figure out what it stands for. Probably something obvious that I am just not getting, haha.

DS=Darling (or Dear) Son, so obviously it follows that DD=Darling Daughter, DH=Darling Husband. You virtually never see DW, and I will let that stand with no further comment.

Oh that makes sense! Thanks!

I might as well just ask this here: Does anyone know if Tulane accepts faxed letters of recommendation?

They do, Bowler.

My D won’t let me post anything on here, but just to say to you guys, CONGRATS on the acceptances. I have been following this thread closely, and it is very helpful, especially FallenChemist’s posts. 'Nuff said.

Does anyone know if Gibson lets you know that your rejected? Or if you were rejected, would the application status still be “your application is complete…etc” and make you wait for a paper letter?

I was wondering the same thing about rejections…also, DD status has gone from things missing (which weren’t when we called) to complete to things missing (and nothing listed) back to complete…and now the status is blank??? Any ideas why it doesn’t say anything now?
