how to change assigned freshman dorm

I'm an incoming freshman and was assigned to live in village c east, even though it's an
upperclassman dorm. i know georgetown says there's no way to change your assigned dorm unless you have medical or religious needs, which I don't really but would be willing to fake if it managed to get me out of village c east, but does anyone know another way to do this? like are you allowed to switch dorms with someone else if you both are willling? my top dorm choice was new south, followed by Harbin.

I’ve seen people willing to compromise their personal integrity for a lot of things but never to change dorms. Interesting… haha

Unless you were able to fake some sort of debilitating handicap and claim that housing didn’t accomodate the handicap access required by law, I don’t know that you could make a compelling argument to change your dorm assignment. Hey, look on the bright side…you have a private bath and you are not in Darnall.

What is the deal with Darnall? Is is really that bad?

i was joking about the faking it part, for the record. but after more research, i’ve found that village c east looks like a great dorm after all so sorry for the stupid question!

I heard Darnall had rats and plumbing problems, but hopefully those got fixed. I got Darnall, but I am happy - it’s the closest to Epicurean!

Darnall gets a bad rap for being far away from everything but they lovingly claim to be the #3 worst dorm in the country & #19 most sexually active. The have a reputation for being very close to one another because of the isolation. hahahaa

In reality students make it seem like it is a day and half march from the main part of campus but it is really like a 5-10 minute walk from anywhere on campus, except Car Barn which is far from every dorm. Epicurean salad bar is awesome, expensive but awesome.

*the stats will change depending on who you talk to (i.e. completely made up)

my son spent his freshman year in Darnell and loved it, you should have no worries

I’m in Village C East too…all the freshman are on freshman ONLY floors. So the upperclassman thing really isn’t an issue. Trust me, unless you’re on the top floor (like me), there is no reason to complain. I have the Chaplain as my RA >.<

Darnall is not bad at all!! There are rats/mice and plumbing problems all over campus, not specifically to Darnall. That comes with living in a city. I lived in the dirty D for my freshman year and I would not have had it any other way. It has the best layout for getting to know your whole floor and isn’t super far from that much. The only annoying distance is to the library because it sucks to walk back to Darnall at 4 in the morning in the middle of December after working on a final paper.
It’s also much closer to Burleith, so you tend to see more upperclassmen. Lastly, I think that being in Darnall made me do more things because when you live so close to everything (i.e. Harbin, New South) small distances seem much bigger.
So, don’t worry about Darnall, get ready for an awesome year!
